Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Invisible Intruder

Site‑27 had always been one of the Foundation's most secure locations. It was home to dozens of high-risk anomalies, including several objects tied to Norse mythology, rare magical artifacts, and highly dangerous SCPs that could easily destabilize reality if mishandled. The security protocols were nearly flawless—but Hydra had a plan.

A single agent had managed to infiltrate the facility, using SCP‑268, the Cap of Neglect. The agent moved like a ghost through the halls, completely invisible to surveillance systems and personnel alike. Normally, anyone wearing the cap would be unnoticeable, unmemorable, and effectively impossible to track. Files, containment areas, and even the keys to the most secure vaults could be stolen without detection.

The plan was meticulous. The Hydra agent targeted some of the most dangerous artifacts, including several Norse god-related SCPs, intending to weaponize them for Hydra's ambitions. If successful, the breach could have been catastrophic.

However, on this day, Darius—O5‑3, also known as The Watcher—was present. Using the Eyes of Heimdall, he saw far beyond the visible, piercing illusions, cloaks of invisibility, and layered magical wards. Through the nine realms, through trickery and deception, he could track any presence. He immediately sensed the intruder in the halls.

Darius moved silently, his staff in hand, approaching the target's location. The Hydra agent, unaware of being watched, rifled through files, pausing occasionally to check the status of various containment units. Then, without warning, Darius stepped into view.

The fight began in an instant.

The Hydra agent struck first, employing advanced martial arts techniques and several anomalous tools hidden on their person. Darius dodged, letting a glancing blow slide off his robes, then countered with precision. A right hook swung in a wide arc, connecting with the agent's jaw and sending them crashing against the reinforced wall. The cap flicked from their head as they stumbled, leaving them momentarily visible.

The agent recovered, flipping backwards and attempting a leg sweep, but Darius was ready. With a swift step and a twisting pivot, he countered, toppling the intruder to the ground. His staff moved in a blur, knocking the Hydra agent's limbs out of alignment without breaking bones—a warning and a display of control.

Alarms began to sound as the commotion echoed through the facility. Several Foundation personnel arrived moments later, drawn by the noise. By then, Darius had secured the area, pinning the Hydra agent to the floor and keeping them contained until reinforcements could arrive.

The agent struggled, but every movement was futile against the combined force of Darius's magical sight and disciplined combat technique. With the cap now removed, they were fully exposed. Foundation security personnel swiftly cuffed and restrained the intruder, ensuring there was no chance of escape.

SCP‑268 was retrieved and secured back in its containment unit, its influence neutralized. The files the agent had touched were scanned for tampering, but no permanent breaches had occurred, thanks to Darius's intervention.

As the team escorted the Hydra agent to temporary confinement, Darius surveyed the room. The site was intact. The artifacts remained safely contained. And the threat, invisible or not, had been neutralized.

For a single moment, the facility returned to quiet, the only sound the faint hum of life-support systems and the distant click of locks sealing away another day's dangers.

In the war between order and chaos, even an invisible threat could not escape the vigilance of the Watcher.
