Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 : Recovery and Proposals

The Demon Lord and his companions had successfully returned to the Demon World, each step weighted with exhaustion but also with relief. Mo Yanluo had endured so much, yet his spirit remained unbroken, even as his body faltered from the lingering effects of the poison. The group moved swiftly through the palace halls, heading toward the inner chambers where the medicine and remedies awaited.

Xu Tianming supported Mo Yanluo, careful not to jostle him too harshly. His youthful energy had always been a comfort, but now it felt like a fragile thread. Even the normally unshakable Mo Zhu and Li Feng walked with a measured pace, their expressions serious as they ensured nothing would hinder the boy's recovery.

As they entered the healing hall, a hush fell over everyone present. The Demon Lord immediately assessed the formation protecting the treasury, recognizing the energy patterns designed to guard the Heavenly Sect's most precious stores. With a wave of his hand, the protective wards and barriers shattered under his might.

"Even though the Heavenly Sect is finished, these remnants still linger," he said, his voice cold, yet determined.

Inside, a single figure stood, ethereal and calm—a fairy, clearly the guardian of the pill. Its form shimmered, delicate yet imposing, as if it belonged neither to the mortal nor the demon realms. The fairy spoke, its tone melodic but firm:

"You are not welcome here. This pill cannot leave without my challenge."

Mo Zhu stepped forward, his presence commanding. "We are not here to harm the treasury or your wards. But we will take what is necessary to heal our brother."

The fairy's eyes glimmered with a light that pierced through their auras. Without hesitation, it launched forward. The group met the attack as one. Li Feng and Mo Zhu coordinated flawlessly, Xu Tianming moved to protect Mo Yanluo, and together, their combined might clashed against the guardian. Energy surged, the air crackling with tension, and finally, after what seemed like hours in mere minutes, the fairy yielded.

"You are strong," it said. "But this is not the end of vigilance. Remember that."

With that, the path was clear. The pill glimmered atop its pedestal, radiant with a soft, almost sacred glow. Mo Yanluo, still weak, reached for it as Xu Tianming guided his hand. The instant the medicine touched his lips, warmth spread through him, and the lingering poison's grip loosened. His eyes fluttered open, and clarity returned like sunlight breaking through clouds.

"I… I feel… so much better," Mo Yanluo whispered, his voice trembling slightly with relief. He looked at the faces surrounding him, familiar yet filled with worry and care. "Thank you… thank you all for helping me."

Xu Tianming shook his head, smiling gently. "You don't need to thank us. We're not just comrades… we're family."

Mo Yanluo's aura strengthened visibly, energy radiating from him in a calm but undeniable wave. He stood taller, a hint of the power he had once wielded now restored, yet tempered by experience.

The group spent the next few days in relative peace. They spoke, laughed, and allowed Mo Yanluo to regain both his strength and confidence. Even the smallest tasks he attempted were met with patience and guidance.

Yet, even in these quiet moments, the responsibilities of leadership never fully left them. The demon Lord, Mo Zhu, continued his duties with the measured presence of one who knew power attracts both admiration and ambition. Word arrived from neighboring realms—proposals for alliances and marriages—but he met each one with a polite yet firm rejection.

"These offers… we cannot pursue them," Mo Zhu said quietly during one discussion. "Our priorities lie elsewhere. Let them come if they will, but we have no interest in worldly unions."

Li Feng nodded. "Strength and unity within our family come first. All else is secondary."

And then, one ordinary day, as the group gathered in the main hall of the Demon Palace for a routine meeting with the elders, a messenger arrived. His steps were quick, precise, and his voice carried both respect and urgency.

One day, Mo Zhu and Li Feng were seated on the grand throne, the weight of the kingdom's matters resting lightly on their shoulders. On either side of them, Mo Yanluo and Xu Tianming sat quietly, attentive yet unaware of the subtleties that were about to unfold. Around them, the elders discussed the affairs of the realm, voices low and formal, as the palace resonated with the quiet hum of authority.

Then, a messenger stepped forward, bowing deeply before addressing the thrones.

"My lords, a wedding proposal has arrived from the Central Kingdom," he announced.

"The princess has arrived in person, accompanied by her family."

"Let them enter," Mo Zhu said simply, his gaze calm but commanding.

The doors opened, and a princess walked in, radiant as a fairy, her presence immediately filling the hall. She was accompanied by her two siblings, standing confidently at her sides. Though mortals, their aura hinted at martial training and disciplined strength—their presence carried weight beyond ordinary humans.

The princess did not immediately notice anything unusual, her focus poised and dignified. But when Mo Zhu and Li Feng's eyes landed on her siblings, a subtle, inexplicable stirring arose within them. Both men felt an unfamiliar pull, an awareness of power and presence that was impossible to describe. Their attention lingered on the siblings in a way that made the air between them feel charged, yet to the others in the hall, nothing seemed amiss.

It was a quiet, electric moment. To Mo Zhu and Li Feng, these young men radiated an energy that was magnetic, drawing their focus inescapably. Neither Mo Yanluo nor Xu Tianming noticed, and the moment passed without a word—yet the tension lingered, a seed planted for what was to come.
