A loud laugh from Sumba echoed in Kai's head, making Kai tut with his teeth. "You do know that you can only control my mana when I try use it on a large part of my body right. Meaning you can't suppress my mana when I use it on my hands or feet" Kai said to Sumba. Sumba continued laughing, as if Kai's statement was utterly pointless to him.
"Of course I know that". Sumba said. "I'm just doing this for fun. After all, supressing your external mana is the only I can do in this trash body". Sumba said. He then stayed quiet for a bit. "Though I'll admit when the exams come in about 4 weeks from now, your mind will probably be strong enough to control me partially. But I'll probably stop suppressing you cuz of mere boredom anyways" Sumba said.
Kai took in Sumba's quote as he then said,
"so you suppressing me is all a game huh". Sumba rolled his eyes in the hellish mind of Kai. "Obviously it's a game to me. Deluded".
The next day, Kai has continued his mediating. Shinsu was also mediating in the room. They were in the same, calm position controlling their mana. Well Shinsu was at least.
The boy Kai twitched his eye slightly as he tried to control Sumba. Shinsu took a glance at the boy. "Controlling Sumba is easy. Well doing it on the inside is. But because Kai is trying to use mana, Shinsu has purposely being suppressing the boy the whole time" Shinsu thought to himself.
Kai remained calm as he meditated. "Can you see if I made progress with controlling you know who" Kai said to Shinsu. "Alright then" Shinsu replied, opening one eye as he looked at Kai. The eye was fueled with his mana as he stared at Kai's body. Kai was still engulfed in Sumba's mana. "Hm. Not like much progress stil-"
Shinsu closed his mouth instantly as he saw a faint, blue spark appear on Kai's body. (Only he could see this, the same way how he is the only one who can see Sumba's mana surrounding Kai). Shinsu gasped slightly, accidentally opening his other eye.
"Well never mind, you made progress with one tiny little spark kid". In the camera room Rinoki was watching, raising an eyebrow. "Kid? They look a similar age to me" Rinoki said to himself, leaning his head towards his camera as he started to get invested.
Kai continued his mediating as he tried to control Sumba. "At least I know I'm making a bit of progress then," Kai said.
After a couple of hours Rinoki knocked on the door. "Can I come in," he said. Shinsu opened his eyes as he stopped meditating, walking up to the door. He opened it.
"Hm" Shinsu said, gasping as he looked at the massive plate of food in Rinoki's hand. "You two haven't eaten, have ya? So I decided to bring some food you know".
The tall man (Rinoki) walked towards a cabinet as he placed the food down. Rinoki's gaze switched to Kai as the boy was still meditating. "He's been standing in that one position for hours" Rinoki thought, remembering how he watched Kai on the cameras for hours. He then blanked. In that singular blink Rinoki's eyes started to glow the same way Shinsu's eyes glowed. But unlike Shinsu, Rinoki couldn't see any mana from Kai. Not Sumba's mana or Kai's own mana.
Rinoki tilted his head. " I can't sense anything from you Kai, why's that"? Kai ignored Rinoki as he continued to meditate. Shinsu began. "I'm not surprised your eyes can glow like that. But ye have been training to suppress his mana. You know so he can control it better for the adventurer. He's doing pretty darn good isn't he"?
Kai was still meditating as he thought to himself, "nice lie there Shinsu".
Rinoki did an impressed nod as he looked at Shinsu. As Rinoki studied Shinsu's mana he looked as Shinsu was engulfed in a large amount of blue. The source of mana flowed around the outside of Shinsu's body. Rinoki nodded. "Now that's how mana is usually supposed to be" Rinoki thought, looking back at the motionless Kai. "But still it'll take a pretty skilled guy for someone to suppress that much mana. And considering these two's considerations I can bet that Shinsu is lyi-"
"Yo Yo. Earth to Rinoki you there" Shinsu said on a chair, eating the food that Rinoki brought in. "Hmm" Shinsu mumbled, taking another bite with his fork. (The food was steak, chips and some broccoli). "The steak's pretty nice. You made this"? Shinsu asked Rinoki. Rinoki shook his head. "Nahhh the chefs did," he replied casually. Shinsu's eyes were locked on Rinoki as he kept on eating. "Tell them they did good on the meal" he said, walking up to Kai.
"Kai probably hasn't eaten since we came here. Or maybe he found some animals in the forest as he was training there. Either way I'll let him eat some food". The boy tapped Kai. Kai's focus didn't wither though as he continued mediating. "Oh well then" Shinsu said, lifting his hand as he preapred to slap Kai on the back. Shinsu swung.
However, as the hand even slightly touched the purple mana around Kai, Kai instantly darted to a table. Rinoki tracked it. "Alright. Alright" Rinoki said, his gaze looking down upon Shinsu. "If he was supressing mana then the boy wouldn't have dodged that. You know cause, the slap wouldn't even have touched the flow of the mana".
Kai's eyes were seriously glued at Rinoki. Shinsu did the same as he narrowed his eyes. "Sooooooo". Shinsu said. Rinoki chuckled. "So you lied" he said casually, putting his hand on his green hair as he laughed.
"But c'mon you guys don't gotta lie like that. I mean I think our relationship right now is kinda chill. After all if I did hate you guys then guys then both of you two wouldn't even be here".
Shinsu smirked as he looked away. "My badddd". Meanwhile, Kai was thinking about his training.
"I'm taking all this mediating thing slow. I've been releasing only a bit of mana so I can focus more on Sumba in my mind. That way I can suppress more of him. But still it's difficult to suppress Sumba whilst releasing my own mana, and I can tell I'm not releasing any mana cuz my body doesn't feel that fiery sensation when I do use my mana".
Rinoki's eyes switched from Kai to the door as he walked out. But before he left…
"Hey Kai" Rinoki said. The boy's gaze instantly locked onto Rinoki. "What?" Kai said. A chuckle came from Rinoki as he turned back to Kai. "If you wanna train you can fight that boy who you met in the forest. His name is Sato by the way. No surname". Rinoki then waved a goodbye, both at Kai and Shinsu before he walked out of the room.
Shinsu then sat down as he sighed. "A weird guy. With his green and yellow eye, I couldn't help but stare at him" Shinsu said, pointing his hand to the table. "Your food getting cold by the way".
Kai walked to the table as he sat down staring at the food. He then raised his hands as a small amount of mana engulfed it. (Sumba isn't strong to supress Kai's mana when his mana is in a small part of his body like feet, hands, fingers and toes).
The food begins to warm up quite quickly to from the heat being made from Kai's mana. Shinsu raised an eyebrow as he turned to Kai. "How did you know that your mana could make heat?" Shinsu said. Kai looked up at him. "When I inserted mana on my hands before, I realised my hands felt warmer". Kai continued warming his food before he began to eat it. (He ate the chips as Shinsu finished the steak).
Shinsu chuckled before going onto the floor to do a plank. "The boy is a fire element type then. Cool" Shinsu thought to himself. (In this world there are 4 main element types. Fire, water, earth and wind).
After 2 weeks of training in the same house with mediation, Kai's control of mana has increased drastically. Kai still can't control Sumba whilst using his OWN mana (not even close) but he can use his own mana way more now. Let's say before Kai could only use 1 percent but now Kai can use about 15 percent.
