October 16th, Friday, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was finally released in theaters, sparking a wave of movie-going, though that day's attendance wasn't the highest.
The number of moviegoers on the second day was much higher than on the first; even during the daytime screenings, almost every showing was packed.
Rebirth of the Financial Giant
In the afternoon, inside the movie theater.
Yugo Ohara looked around and remarked with a sigh: "So many people."
"Senior, there's a big exam in a few months. Is it really okay to be watching a movie at a time like this?" someone asked from the side.
Back when the first season of Uma Musume aired, Yugo Ohara was only in his first year of high school. Now, he was in the second semester of his third year, a critical period for exam preparation.
Although Yugo Ohara had followed the first season of the Demon Slayer TV series from beginning to end last year, he hadn't actually planned on coming to see this theatrical film. He was prepared to focus solely on his studies and buy the Blu-ray to watch after the entrance exams were over.
However, he had been invited by a junior student he was quite fond of, and having heard that this movie had triggered a new wave of ticket-buying frenzy, rivaling Your Name...
If he didn't watch it, he'd surely regret it and keep thinking about it, which would, in turn, negatively affect his exam preparations. After weighing the pros and cons, he decided to watch it after all.
He turned his head to look at his junior, Akemi Takeda, and smiled: "No problem. Sometimes you need a break. Besides, even if I studied one more day, it wouldn't guarantee I'd score any higher. As long as I don't slack off in my upcoming preparations, it'll be fine."
Hearing this, Akemi Takeda flashed a devilish smile and teased, "Eh? Shouldn't you be saying something like, 'Since a cute junior invited me to see a movie, I have to come even if it were a problem'?"
Yugo Ohara paused for a moment, then quickly put on a serious face and gave Akemi Takeda a light chop on the head: "Don't bully your senior!"
Akemi Takeda let out a "Ugh" sound, covering her head as if in great pain. However, Yugo Ohara knew his own strength and knew that her reaction was just an act, so he didn't fall for it.
Realizing it didn't work, Akemi Takeda dropped the act.
The two continued laughing and joking until the tickets were checked.
There were many people outside, but it wasn't until he entered the theater that Yugo Ohara gained a clearer understanding of the box office appeal of this animation.
It wouldn't be accurate to say every seat was taken, but it was close.
As for the audience, there were elementary school students, teenagers, adults, and even middle-aged people; the only ones missing were the elderly. This was normal, though, as this animation wasn't really suitable for them, and the likelihood of them coming to accompany their grandchildren was also very low.
There were people who came alone, groups of two or three guys together, and, of course, whole families, of which there were quite a few.
However, pairs like him and Akemi Takeda, a high school boy and girl, were very rare.
On second thought, it wasn't a romance animation, so inviting someone of the opposite sex to watch it did seem a bit odd. He figured it was just because there were no romance movies out recently, and Akemi Takeda happened to know he had watched the first season of the Demon Slayer TV series, which was why she invited him.
He glanced at Akemi Takeda beside him, wanting to confirm this, but decided against it.
After sitting in the theater for a few minutes, as the lights dimmed, the movie began.
In the graveyard, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps counted one by one, reciting the names of the fallen members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
The person accompanying him said, "Leader, you should go back; this is not good for your health."
The leader replied, "I do not know how many more times I can come here. I want to avenge these dead children in my generation. Seven reports of casualties caused by demons have been received this month. At this very moment, the children of the Demon Slayer Corps are also fighting against demons on the front lines. No matter how many lives demons take, the human spirit will never be severed. No matter the desperate situation, people will always rise to fight."
The main theme of the film was established right at the beginning.
After that, the main content of the film began. The main character group received a mission, boarded the train named "Mugen," found the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku on the train, rendezvoused with him, chatted briefly, and immediately engaged in an intense battle with the demons lurking on the train.
It started with a battle against Lower Rank One. This demon's ability was to trap people in dreams. By tampering with the train tickets, he successfully made everyone except Nezuko fall into a deep sleep, creating happy dreams that people would want to get lost in.
However, with Nezuko's help, the male lead was the first to break free from the dream.
He climbed onto the roof of the train, found Lower Rank One, and fought him. He successfully cut off the demon's head, but immediately discovered that the demon had already merged with the Mugen Train.
The two hundred passengers on the train had become hostages!
Fortunately, Inosuke Hashibira, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, also woke up one after another. They all worked together to protect the passengers on the train, while the male lead and Inosuke searched for the location of the "neck" where Lower Rank One had fused with the Mugen Train.
After successfully finding the "neck," the two worked together and successfully cut it, killing Lower Rank One. However, the male lead was injured, and the train overturned.
The male lead lay on the ground, successfully stopping the bleeding under the guidance of the Flame Hashira, but soon, a stronger demon, Upper Rank Three, appeared.
The Flame Hashira fought him but was no match.
Upper Rank Three wanted the Flame Hashira to become a demon as well, but the Flame Hashira naturally refused.

Upper Rank Three wants the Flame Hashira to become a demon too, but the Flame Hashira naturally refuses.
The man and the demon continue to fight. Before long, the Flame Hashira's body is pierced by a punch from Upper Rank Three. However, the Flame Hashira does not fall on the spot; instead, he clings to Upper Rank Three, refusing to let him escape.
Seeing that dawn is approaching and the sun will soon shine upon them—a fatal weakness for demons—Upper Rank Three has no choice but to sever his own arms and flee in a panic.
After this battle, the Flame Hashira sacrifices himself, but his spirit touches the members of the main protagonist group and moves the messenger crows and many members of the Demon Slayer Corps to sadness and tears.
The plot is not complex at all; it can even be described as "very simple."
However, the battle scenes are exceptionally well-executed, with the usual gorgeous special effects and striking visual impact. This visual effect is further enhanced in the cinema, making it even more exhilarating and shocking to watch.
What remains is the "passion." This arc is inherently quite passionate, and the animation production team captured its essence perfectly. Especially the Flame Hashira's final battle—it is both heart-pounding and moving, to the point where some viewers even shed tears.
