Chapter 240 - Did I Just Rescue a "Hyper-Aggressive" Kid?

"Is that Triceratops ramming the enclosure again?"

"Yes. It was tranquilized just this morning, but I reckon the sedative is wearing off already."

"Sigh... why is this Triceratops so fucking aggressive? We grabbed it because it looked so robust, but now? The cost of repairing the fence is higher than the feed bill."

Deep within the dense forest stood a barn several times larger than a standard agricultural structure, flanked by a few smaller houses, presumably the farm owner's living quarters. Surrounded by patches of wheat fields where several figures could be seen toiling away, the most eye-catching feature was the commotion emanating from the barn. Every so often, a low, guttural rumbling could be heard. Because of the soundproofing, anyone not listening closely might mistake it for cattle or some other common livestock.

"So many people told me that buying dinosaurs is a quick way to make money, and that keeping them is about as easy as raising horses. How did it end up like this for me? I'm not even talking about profit; I'm hovering on the edge of bankruptcy every single day. Seriously..."

CRASH!

A violent impact echoed from within the barn, or perhaps from beneath it. The farm owner, leaning against the doorway, didn't even seem particularly surprised; a grim testament to how frequent these outbursts had become.

"Fuck, that beast is awake again."

The paleo-veterinarian standing beside him remained silent. He knew the Triceratops' aggression likely stemmed from a lack of adequate space, but he didn't believe the owner would ever kindly provide more room. For the sake of his own career, he kept his mouth shut.

"Honestly, should I just find an opportunity to release this bunch? Ever since I started keeping these 'masters,' I haven't made much money, and I'm exhausted every day. It's just..."

"That's not an option."

The paleo-veterinarian finally spoke up, fearing for his job. "These creatures are easy to get in but hard to get out. Not to mention they might eat the crops. If anyone finds out, that's a minimum three-year sentence."

Loud, violent thud.

"I know, I'm just saying... Hmm?"

The farm owner trailed off. He realized the commotion didn't seem to be coming from underground. It was coming from... all around him?

Screams of the crowd.

A continuous, rising commotion erupted outside the barn, followed by the sound of earth-shaking footsteps.

"W-what is..."

Wood splintering.

The next moment, the entire roof and the upper half of the barn were ripped away. Carlo's massive silhouette blotted out the sky, looming outside the barn.

I guess it was time for that release after all.

Sniffing.

Carlo quickly locked onto the location of the captive dinosaurs by their scent. The layout was somewhat similar to Lockwood Manor, though it seemed they used cargo lifts to move the dinosaurs underground, lacking the automated systems of the Lockwood facility.

Since that was the case...

Carlo smashed through the wooden wall, walked slowly into the center of the barn, raised his right foot, and brought it down gently on what appeared to be the hydraulic lift platform!

THUD!

The platform plummeted instantly. The depth of the basement was much shallower than Carlo had estimated, only about 10 meters, not even as tall as he was. After peering down through the hole created by the fallen lift, Carlo chose a spot far away from where the dinosaurs were being held and stomped again. After the metallic ringing faded, the ground collapsed, revealing a hole large enough for him to pass through.

Carlo patiently scraped at the edge of the opening, forcing the ground to crumble into blocks to form a makeshift, if unstable, incline. However, rather than heading down himself, he bit down on the high-voltage electrical box nearby.

A surge of electricity flooded his body, bringing a slight tingling sensation, but it had no effect on Carlo.

Zzzzz... Click.

After a burst of sparks and flashes, the circuit was completely destroyed, and the iron doors locking the dinosaurs in the basement swung open automatically. To ensure any timid herbivores weren't afraid to come out, Carlo stepped back into the tree line, playing the role of a thoughtful rescuer.

But then, something happened that left even Carlo stunned.

Splintering wood. Metal clashing.

A Triceratops that looked incredibly robust charged out of the basement, shattered a wooden wall, and rammed straight into a tractor parked by the side of the road. Its massive horns became wedged into the vehicle, shattering the glass and punching clean through the driver's cab!

Following that, more dinosaurs began to emerge from the basement, though fortunately, the others were much calmer.

BANG!

The "Hyper-Aggressive" Triceratops shook its head violently, successfully flipping the tractor that had snagged its horns, and then, as if unsatisfied, continued to thrash the vehicle's chassis.

"AUNNNG!"

She let out a cry, scanning the surroundings. As soon as she spotted human figures, she lowered her head and charged. For a while, people were flying into the air across the farm, practically reaching for the sun.

Happy chirping.

A Pachycephalosaurus followed not far behind the aggressive Triceratops, seemingly there to enjoy the show. After all, it didn't like humans either; seeing them get launched into the sky was the most entertaining thing imaginable, but...

Why are you laughing?

The aggressive Triceratops noticed the Pachycephalosaurus watching the show and turned to face it.

"Aunng?"

The spectator Pachycephalosaurus felt something wasn't right. Why did it look like this Triceratops wanted to fight him too? Aren't they on the same side?

I asked what you were laughing at!

The aggressive Triceratops lunged at the Pachycephalosaurus, who fled in panicked shrieks.

I asked what you were laughing at! I asked what you were laughing at!

The two disappeared into the distance as Carlo watched the scene quietly from the forest.

Did I really just rescue a "hyper-aggressive" kid?

BioSyn Ecological Zone.

Rustle...

The leaves swayed gently. A Giganotosaurus stepped slowly out of the forest, body lowered, eyes fixed on a herd of Iguanodon in the distance.

BioSyn had originally intended to reconstruct a Giganotosaurus, but due to their lack of technical mastery, the product had many defects: rough scales, a misshapen head, and missing mass in the mandibular adductor muscles.

However, one should not underestimate him. BioSyn intended these Giganotosauruses to be war-grade biological assets like Carlo, so they were far stronger than they appeared, though this was mostly limited to combat against humans.

Despite the vast difference in appearance, the naming process for the Giganotosauruses retained the characteristics of the Giganotosaurus carolinii. The first one was named Case, and the second was Carlos, though for the sake of readers who struggle to tell the two apart, we will refer to them as One and Two.

Two's body looked a bit thicker. Although his overall size was slightly smaller than One's, his condition was much better.

At this moment, he also stepped out of the woods, stealthily approaching One, and together they locked their sights on the Iguanodon herd in the distance.

This was to be a qualified hunt by a pair of substandard products.
