Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Wedding!

BOOM!

Of course, the nightly "sparring" between Ide and Ur was hard on the neighbors.

"This is getting annoying!"

"Mr. Mayor, please kick that crazy couple out of town!"

"I can't! They're too strong!"

The townsfolk complained loudly.

Sure, when bandits, magical beasts, or demons attacked, Ide and Ur were the town's guardian deities. The people trusted their strength implicitly.

But when there wasn't an invasion? Those two monsters were the biggest public nuisance in town.

---

Another day passed.

After breaking through that thin barrier of friendship, Ide and Ur grew closer than ever.

And so, after their daily sparring session, Ide seemed to finally make up his mind. He pulled Ur into his arms and asked, "Ur, let's get married."

"Eh?"

"So soon?"

Ur trembled slightly in his embrace, looking up at him in surprise.

"What? You don't want to?"

Ide raised an eyebrow, teasing her with a smirk.

"Of course I want to."

"It just feels... too perfect. Everything is going so smoothly, it feels like a dream. It doesn't feel real."

Ur shook her head. Of course she wanted to marry Ide.

Their personalities matched, their habits matched, and they were perfect partners in magic.

Most importantly, Ide was exactly her type.

"In that case."

"Let's start preparing for the wedding!"

Having gotten the answer he wanted, Ide gently tapped the tip of her nose. He immediately started planning.

First, it had to be big.

At least in scale!

He wanted the entire town to be involved.

Second, the quality had to be top-notch.

Even though the town wasn't rich in resources, it had everything they needed. Fireworks, decorations—the local shops had it all.

"As expected, money is the issue."

Ide thought about it, and his gaze drifted toward the mountain behind the town.

"My dear magical beasts, for the sake of my wedding with Ur, please dedicate your lives to the cause!"

Ide's eyes lit up.

Yep, time for the magical beasts to suffer a little.

Magical Beasts: "Don't come over here!!!"

---

Three months later.

After three consecutive months of Ide's "cleansing" operations, not a single magical beast could be found within a hundred-mile radius.

The beasts were either dead or had fled for their lives, marking the town where Ide and Ur lived as a forbidden zone.

This had an unintended positive side effect: trade caravans, no longer fearing attacks, began visiting the town more frequently. The local economy boomed.

In light of Ide's contributions, the mayor organized the local merchants to fully sponsor Ide and Ur's wedding.

But that wasn't all.

The mayor decided to personally officiate the ceremony.

---

The Wedding Day.

The town was packed.

Everyone in town, plus all the visiting merchants, gathered to celebrate.

The banquet tables stretched for a full kilometer, occupying an entire street.

On the wedding stage, the mayor stood ready to officiate.

Ur wore a long white gown that softened her sharp features, giving her a glowing, bridal elegance. Ide wore a sharp black suit, looking dashing and spirited.

They had both dressed up for the occasion, looking exceptionally beautiful and handsome.

"Ide, do you take this woman to be your wedded wife, to live together in the holy bond of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better or worse, so long as you both shall live?"

The mayor straightened his hunched back as much as he could, trying to look dignified, and asked Ide.

"I do."

Ide nodded firmly.

"Ur, do you take this man to be your wedded husband, to live together in the holy bond of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better or worse, so long as you both shall live?"

The mayor turned to Ur and repeated the question.

"Of course I do."

Ur smiled and nodded.

They exchanged rings, placing them on each other's left ring finger.

"Then, by the power vested in me as Mayor, I pronounce Ide and Ur... husband and wife! The wedding is a great success!"

The mayor announced, leading the applause.

"WOOOO!!"

The cheers of the townspeople seemed to shake the sky.

"Ur, congratulations!"

"You finally got your wish!"

"And Ide, listen to me!"

"If I ever hear that you're treating Ur badly, I'll show you exactly why my fists are so hard!"

Susan wiped away tears. Seeing her best friend get married left her feeling a little empty inside. She took a deep breath, suppressed her emotions, congratulated Ur, and then turned to threaten Ide "viciously."

"Don't worry."

"I'm reliable."

Ide gave a thumbs-up.

"Hmph."

"The handsome ones are usually scumbags."

"And the honest-looking ones are usually freaks."

Susan muttered under her breath, staring at Ide intensely. She vowed to watch him like a hawk. Always watching!!

Since neither Ide nor Ur had any other family in town, with the mayor as their witness, the marriage was sealed.

---

After the Wedding.

Life for Ide and Ur didn't change much after marriage.

They still fought every day. "Battle is awesome!"

Of course, now they had a new nightly activity. "Doing it is awesome!"

Fight hard during the day, love hard at night.

Their life was colorful and fulfilling.

---

Half a month later.

"Susan, I came to see you!"

Ur came down from the mountain in high spirits, specifically to chat with Susan. But she was met with a look of pure resentment.

"Heh."

"Found a man and forgot your friends, huh?"

"You used to come see me every week."

"Now that you're married, it's once every half month."

"At this rate, you're going to forget I even exist, aren't you?"

Susan looked at her with the eyes of a jilted lover, her voice dripping with playful bitterness.

"No!"

"I won't!"

"I'll always think of you!"

Ur waved her hands in panic, trying to explain.
