They found a rhythm.
Not perfect. Not seamless. But—functional. Sustainable. A pattern of partnership that actually worked.
Mornings belonged to Sera. Breakfast together. School drop-off—they alternated days. Killian on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. Isla on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
"It's important she sees both of us," Isla had explained. "Sees that we're both present. Both invested. Both her parents."
Midday belonged to the empire. Meetings. Strategy sessions. Operational decisions. They attended everything together. Presented a united front. Made decisions jointly.
The organization was adjusting. Learning that Mrs. Archer and Mr. Archer spoke with one voice. That challenging one meant challenging both. That the partnership was real and non-negotiable.
