Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Change Your Mindset

Ellen didn't want to be seen as weak in front of her best friend. She wanted to change her mindset, not trust anyone easily, and not be bullied anymore. Thanks to her friendship with Flint, she felt inspired by his constant encouragement.

Hearing her best friend's words of advice, her cheeks grew even redder. Even the pain in her knee slowly faded. She was incredibly grateful to Mrs. Sora for kicking her out of the condominium, allowing her to meet a truly kind man. She truly hoped Flint was a truly kind man she could rely on, unlike Harley, who had betrayed her so suddenly.

Her head nodded, indicating that she promised to comply with her friend's wishes.

Flint's reaction was a bright smile at his friend's shy response. His right hand felt like stroking his friend's tiny head, as he usually did in the game world. However, in reality, he couldn't do so because their current relationship was simply that of friends and neighbors.

"I'm not going to kick you out of this apartment, Ellen. I don't want you to be homeless again."

"Thank you for being willing to listen to my boring stories during your time as friends with me."

Flint rolled his eyes. "There's no way I'd be bored. In fact, I don't want you to keep it bottled up inside. If you keep it bottled up, you'll only get more heartbroken."

"Harley rarely acts like this towards me. Whenever I have a problem, he refuses to listen to me. That's why I always act strong around him so he doesn't worry about me while he's filming."

"You don't always have to be strong, Ellen." A weak sigh escaped his lips. "Because you also need someone to lean on."

Ellen folded her arms. "You really are a strange man, Flint."

His right eyebrow raised. "Why are you suddenly making fun of me? Did I say something wrong?"

"Didn't you just say that your neighbor wasn't a weak person? Now you're telling me not to be tough. What do you really want?"

Flint felt like pinching his best friend's cheeks, as her seemingly innocent demeanor was starting to irritate him. Even though his best friend was an actress, he hadn't expected her to show such an innocent side. That's what made him decide to trust Ellen as his first true friend, along with Alfonso as his personal assistant.

"Ellen, I mean–"

Ellen slapped her forehead. "Oh my! I forgot to make us dinner."

Seeing his friend's increasingly innocent demeanor made his eyes roll. "Why are you still thinking about dinner at a time like this? Your knee's badly injured."

"You don't have to overdo it. I'm actually used to getting injuries like this when filming action scenes."

"What? So, they didn't give you any body armor while you were filming?"

"No."

Flint clenched his fists tightly. "Your agency is truly outrageous. I don't mean to mock you, but this situation is also beneficial for you. You won't have to live in misery any longer."

"But, I have to find a new job from now on. I can't be unemployed for the rest of my life."

Flint took his phone out of his pocket and searched for a restaurant app to order food online. "By the way, I don't mind ordering in tonight. I won't force you to cook for me. I don't want your knees to get more injured because you move around a lot."

Her head hung low. "I'm sorry. If only I hadn't wandered around the park earlier, I wouldn't have been attacked by all those haters."

"If I were you, I'd definitely do the same thing in a situation like this." He showed her a photo of a Korean meal. "I want us to eat Korean food sometime. I want tteokbokki, kimchi, bulgogi, japchae, and so much more."

Thanks to her friend's innocent attitude, her smile widened. "How are we going to spend it if you order that much food?" Her arms folded. "Besides, I don't want to waste your money."

Flint nearly burst out laughing again at the innocent words his friend, who still didn't know his true identity, uttered. He wanted to tell him his true identity right away, but would his friend believe him? Would he still want to be friends with him after he'd deceived him for over a month? Was telling the truth in a situation like this the right thing to do?

"Don't worry, you don't have to worry about buying delicious food. I still have a lot of savings now."

After a brief dinner, Flint still wanted to spend time with his friend at the residence. Seeing his friend constantly scrolling through social media to read all the negative comments, he felt like confiscating his friend's phone so she could focus on him. He especially hated seeing his friend's eyes starting to puff up, making her face look ugly.

"Is your hobby now reading all the negative comments?"

Ellen smiled faintly. "At least I have to clarify one by one that I'm not a bad woman. Especially since all the companies blacklisted me because they didn't want to be dragged into this strange problem."

ting….

Suddenly, an incoming message notification appeared in her email. She immediately opened the email, which was a job offer from Fantasia Star Studio. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open as she read the letter. It was a job offer as the head narrative designer for the game "Era of The Jade Dawn," a game she had been playing for a month.

Was she in a dream world? How could such a well-known company suddenly offer her a job? And how did the company know her email address? Was it because they saw her email address on her social media accounts?

At first, she was nervous, but now her smile widened. Her eyes sparkled as she stared at her friend's handsome face, which also shone in the night sky. "Flint, I've accepted the job offer."

Flint had suspected the email was from Alfonso. He'd pretended to be clueless, but now he was just pretending to be innocent. "Really? What kind of job did you get?"

"Head of the narrative designer team for the games we used to play."

"Wait a minute! Does that mean you'll be the one determining the continuation of this game's storyline?"

"But it won't be that easy; I'll have to go through various difficult tests. Moreover, I'm experiencing a major problem; it's impossible for the company to hire me, even if I work behind the scenes."

"You will definitely be accepted even if you are involved in a scandal."

Ellen folded her arms. "How can you be so sure?"

"Because if you truly love your hobby, you'll be able to do your job well. The test you'll be taking won't be difficult either." A mischievous smile spread across his handsome face. "But that doesn't mean you're guaranteed to be accepted. You have to show your abilities first. So, don't get too excited, this is just an email regarding an interview invitation."

Ellen still felt something was odd about this email she received. She was asked to attend the company building tomorrow. Was this email a scam? It was strange, for one company to suddenly be interested in her, while another blocked her.
