Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Eriq has a lab where he tests on human beings, primarily, the women he's saved that weren't prepared to return to normal human life. And that's not even all of it. This man quite literally is in any industry anyone can think of. And yet he chooses to live out there, in Snowfall of Explosives, where at any moment a bomb or even possibly a nuke can be dropped on his head or destroy his facility.

We've since returned to the site, everything running normally even under a woman's guidance, though then again, it's chaotic enough with men, even if they don't listen to her, it'll still be as chaotic as usual. The next supply is pretty much complete by now as well, though I bet our clients expect a few heads on spikes as payback for the long wait time. We could deliver, but there's not much time left, so we can postpone until never.

For the time being, we now need to actually process through all of the information we've gathered, contemplate the best way to eliminate all these people, and destroy the supply. For the sake of remaining low, we can have Pierre communicate the information for us while we escape back to Surtigian; that would be the best way to ensure we're not tracked back to the facility.

"So, what do we know so far?" Antonio starts as we're all seated in the office, oddly relaxed after meeting Eriq.

"Rapard and Duthious are actively working to take over Qorboon and are poisoning all their citizens to get it done."

"There are some incredibly powerful people in the world that the school probably should keep a closer eye on."

"The school already watches everyone without underestimating anyone, chances are they are already aware of Eriq and the power he holds and have him on a close leash."

"Either way, they should probably be more wary of the situation than they likely are."

"You don't know how much they watch each individual, so you have no say in whether or not they should put more or less attention on any given person."

"Enough! This is not what this meeting is about. We have three or four days before the mission deadline, a fuck ton of people to kill, and a massive stash of drugs to dispose of. All of us need to get our heads back to the task at hand. Starting with witnesses; Pierre, were you spotted by anyone, no matter how low of a rank, while out in Qorboon?"

"They would have been eliminated if they did see me."

"Answer the question."

"No, I was not spotted whatsoever."

"I don't believe him. We should kill him and the entirety of every area he went to in Qorboon."

"Absolutely not, we can not jump the gun like that. We'd be eliminating a mass amount of world officials, and for what? Because there's an off chance that he was spotted? No. We're going to stick to my plan; eliminate anyone within the warehouse and any nearby witnesses, dispose of all the drugs with our provided equipment, Pierre will go to share the information about the successful mission and we will escape to the borders of Qorboon and lay low until the aftermath of our actions blow over."

"And how long do you expect that to take? You are aware of how important this specific warehouse is to the entirety of Qorboon, Rapard, and Duthious, right? That's something neither of us took into account when discussing this mission, just how important these people and this entire enterprise is. We destroy everything here, who knows the aftermath?"

He's not wrong. The destruction of the facility before my coma had led to a massive butterfly effect that caused many more issues all around the world. We need to be smart about it, sure, the school will tie up our loose ends in terms of storyline so it doesn't lead back to any of the assassins, but what about everyone affected? They're going to need to find a new drug supplier elsewhere, and who's to say it'll be safer or cleaner than the last? All the innocent lives in those rundown, piss-drunk towns will be heavily affected. "We'll need to figure out an alternative so then the world doesn't turn to even more shit after we're done here, clearly the steps laid out by the school will lead to a variety of unsavoury outcomes, possibly even thousands of people dying, and no economy from any of the nations can handle thousands of deaths."

"So what do you suggest, miss 'In Charge?'"

I mumble, head in my hands, contemplating, "So many innocent people would have to go cold turkey." I gaze between the two grown men around me; one blood, good looking, charismatic, easy for people to like. The other, dark, brooding, good at getting shit done, would be excellent at manipulating and turning people against each other at a moment's notice if he wanted to. I need to keep Antonio by my side, but Pierre? He's disposable. "They need someone to look up to, to find hope in, and be guided until they're prepared to handle things and think for themselves." They don't seem to understand what I'm suggesting right away, remaining silent and focused on me until I continue. "Pierre, you're kind, good looking, gentle to those in need. You don't have to interact with them directly, but you need to stick around and show them a better way to live, without harsh drugs."

"But what about school? Being here is supposed to be temporary, I can't just skip school to make sure some impoverished drug addicts don't kill themselves or others."

"Figure it out, not her problem anymore."

"Asshole."

"Manwhore."

"Excuse me?"

"Enough, we have three days till the mission deadline, I want everything completed in two. Pierre, you're good to head back to the school tonight to give our report, we'll handle everything from here."

 "And if something goes wrong?"

"We'll handle everything from here. You are dismissed."

"Fine."

Pierre rises from his seat in an instant and exits the office without another word, nobody speaks to him as he leaves, nor acknowledges his existence. Almost like he was never here to begin with.

He exits silently, even his truck not making a noise as he vanishes off into the distance.

Antonio slams his hands on the table, leaping to his feet, enraged, "Petty fucking asshole, if I didn't know any better I'd-"

"Leave him be. We have more important things to take care of." I cut him off in an instant, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. His muscles relax in an instant and we commence our next course of action.
