Ava's Pov
I didn't leave.
That was the first decision I made the moment I woke up and realized I had spent the night there without even planning to. My back hurt from the chair, my neck felt stiff, but I didn't care.
Then I heard movement.
I turned slightly and saw Amanda by the window, adjusting the curtains just enough to let in light without letting it hit my mum's face directly.
She had already been awake.
The tray from last night was gone and replaced with a new one. The side table looked cleaner, and organized with all her medications.
She must've done all of that before I even opened my eyes.
"Morning," she said when she noticed me looking.
"Morning," I replied, straightening slowly.
"You should stretch," she added. "You've been sitting like that for hours."
I didn't respond to that. I just looked at my mum instead.
She was still asleep.
"How is she?" I asked.
Amanda didn't hesitate. "She woke up around five. Took her medication and went back to sleep."
