Leon's Pov
By the third day, I had checked the same thing more times than I could count.
The files stayed exactly where they were supposed to be. No unauthorized access, no suspicious activity, nothing that gave me a reason to question what I had already started questioning.
I leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling. A part of me was relieved…more tired than relieved but still. I was tired of being on edge all the time.
Emily stood across from me, tablet in hand, waiting.
"Well?" she asked.
I exhaled slowly. "Nothing."
"That's a good thing," she said.
"It should be."
But it didn't feel like one.
"You're overthinking it. If she was going to act on it, she would've by now."
She wasn't wrong. The file we gave Caroline wasn't something that needed days to act on. If there was going to be interference, I would've seen it already.
Unless she was being careful, or she wasn't doing anything at all.
"Keep monitoring it."
"I already am."
"Closely."
