Chapter 23 - Fire Child and the Giant Lizard

Su Nan's expression was cold as he continuously released bursts of acid.

He was targeting the knight-level Blackscale Lizardmen.

In just over ten breaths, seven Blackscale Lizardmen had died from his spells.

The Blackscale Lizardmen were already at a disadvantage, and with Su Nan's intervention, the situation became increasingly unfavorable for them.

The balance of power gradually tilted towards Blackrock City.

"Roar!"

Just then, a roar suddenly erupted!

It was the Blackscale Lizardman chieftain who noticed Su Nan's threat and intended to kill this human with strange power first.

But as soon as he made a move, he was stopped by Kei.

"Lizard head, your opponent is me!"

Kei sneered and swung his sword.

The power of a peak knight-level warrior, combined with the boost from the brute force potion, caused this strike to create a piercing, air-shattering explosion.

The Blackscale Lizardman chieftain's pupils shrank, and he dared not take the blow head-on. He hurriedly dodged backward, but in doing so, he lost the opportunity to get close to Su Nan.

"Chirp, chirp."

The Blackscale Lizard Chieftain emitted a strange, grating sound.

Kei, mistaking it for a defiant curse, ignored it and prepared to continue the attack but suddenly realized something was wrong and abruptly looked towards Su Nan's direction.

A massive black shadow had appeared from behind the battlefield, charging rapidly towards Su Nan.

Brad noticed the shadow immediately, whirled around, and roared as he rammed his black stone shield into the oncoming figure!

Thud!

With a deafening thud, Brad was sent flying like a kite with a broken string.

The shadow, on the other hand, only staggered back a few steps, shook its head, and returned to normal.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Su Nan also saw the shadow's true form.

It was a giant lizard, seven or eight meters long, its body covered in cold, hard, black and red scales.

"I didn't expect these lizardheads to use such a feint attack."

Su Nan muttered, his face showing no sign of panic.

He spotted the monster even before Kai and Brad and had already prepared his spells, immediately casting a sleeping spell.

This giant lizard was clearly a variant that had awakened the bloodline of a dragon lizard. It could easily knock away Brad, who had taken a brute force potion, in a physical confrontation; its combat power was probably at the peak of a knight's level. The acid splash probably wouldn't do much damage; instead, it would only provoke its ferocity.

Therefore, Su Nan decisively chose the sleeping spell.

The giant lizard, about to charge, suddenly shook its head, swaying unsteadily as if drunk.

"As expected of a variant bloodline, it can even resist a sleeping spell."

Su Nan smirked and, without hesitation, took out the [Level 1 Summon Monster Spell] scroll and activated it instantly.

In an instant, a dazzling six-pointed star array suddenly appeared on the ground several meters ahead.

With a flash of light, a creature less than a meter tall, surrounded by scorching flames, its humanoid form barely discernible, appeared out of thin air, opening its mouth wide and emitting a clear, childlike laugh.

"Fire Child, huh? Not bad luck."

Su Nan's lips curled into a smile.

The Summoning Monster Spell, as the name suggests, allows one to summon otherworldly creatures that obey the caster's commands and assist in battle.

The strength of the summoned creatures depends on the spell's level, the caster's mental strength, and luck.

A level one Summoning Monster Spell can summon creatures with strength roughly between a mid-level knight and a low-level grand knight.

The Fire Child, however, is a creature from the fire elemental plane; its combat power is roughly equivalent to a peak knight.

Although they couldn't summon a low-level Grand Knight-level otherworldly creature, a peak Knight-level one was already quite good.

At Su Nan's command, Fire Child cheered and rushed towards the still-dazed giant lizard, grabbing it in a hug.

Almost instantly, the scales on the giant lizard's body that touched Fire Child softened, contracted, and turned to charcoal.

Intense flames erupted, scorching the flesh beneath with a sizzling sound.

The excruciating pain instantly freed the giant lizard from the lingering effects of the sleeping spell, unleashing a deafening, piercing scream.

It violently spun its massive body, rolling quickly on the ground to extinguish the flames and break free from Fire Child. Then, it opened its blood-red maw, filled with sharp teeth, and viciously bit at fire child.

Unfortunately, physical attacks had very limited effect on Fire Child, an elemental creature. The sharp teeth passed right through Fire Child, causing little damage; instead, the giant lizard itself was burned in the mouth by the flames, howling in pain.

Fire

Burning and fire aura!

These are the two abilities possessed by the Fire Child.

The former inflicts intense flame damage on any creature touched by the Fire Child, even melting metal into slag.

The latter allows the Fire Child to continuously emit high-heat rays, causing continuous, slightly worse burning damage to all creatures within a ten-meter radius of the Fire Child.

Simply put, the Fire Child is a walking heat source.

Unless one possesses a magical item that insulates against intense heat, anyone who gets close will face constant burning damage.

The giant lizard clearly had no means to restrain the Fire Child.

Its scales were also unable to withstand the intense flames.

Under the Fire Child's pursuit, the giant lizard could only flee in a sorry state, completely lacking the imposing and ferocious demeanor it had displayed upon its initial appearance.

Blade, having caught his breath, had just gotten up from the ground when he looked up and saw this scene, his eyes widening in shock.

What kind of monster was this?

It could actually suppress that terrifying giant lizard!

Not far away, Kei breathed a sigh of relief, secretly marveling at the sight.

As expected of Su Nan, his methods were endless.

The Black-Scaled Lizardman's decision to target him was undoubtedly a fatal mistake.

  "Hehehe,"

Cheerful laughter mingled with agonizing screams echoed across the battlefield.

Despite his desperate attempts to dodge and avoid direct contact with the Fire Child, the Fire Child's fiery aura still caused the giant lizard immense suffering.

In a short time, not a single intact scale remained on the giant lizard's body; it was covered in shocking burns.

After extinguishing the flames once more, the giant lizard finally couldn't take it anymore. It rushed to a spot not far from Su Nan, lay on the ground, and shook its head repeatedly. Its amber vertical pupils revealed a human-like pleading emotion, almost as if it were begging for mercy.

"Quite intelligent."

Su Nan remarked in amazement.

Having encountered such a rare creature, he didn't want to kill it so easily. He stopped the fire child's pursuit and casually cast a sleeping spell.

The severely wounded giant lizard could no longer resist the effects of the sleeping spell. Its eyelids fluttered a few times before it fell into a deep sleep.

Out of caution, Su Nan didn't stop there. He patted the black rock leopard beside him, signaling it to subdue the giant lizard. Then, he placed his hand on the lizard's body and cast a Fatigue Touch, draining its energy and ensuring the massive creature was completely incapacitated. Only

After doing this, he confidently shifted his attention from the lizard and turned to the battlefield.

In that instant, the surviving Blackscale Lizardmen felt a chill run down their spines.

To their utter horror, the terrifying fire monster charged forward with a triumphant roar.
