Chapter 1 - Assembling the Rubik's Cube

Starlight Calendar 1248, Autumn Twilight (October).

Black Rock City, border of the Duchy of Stars.

The weather was gradually cooling, with a few yellowing leaves occasionally fluttering in the wind, reminding one that the hot summer was coming to an end.

Walking along the cobblestone courtyard path, the old butler, Geller, tightened his collar to keep the cold wind out, his other hand firmly holding a wooden box.

Passing through the courtyard, old Geller arrived at a secluded courtyard.

Looking at the quiet, deserted courtyard, he couldn't help but frown. He couldn't understand why Young Master Su Nan had moved here and even told the servants not to disturb him unless necessary.

He said he liked quiet, but wasn't it a bit too deserted?

Since the death of Baron Anast and the de facto exile of the two young masters to Blackrock City, Young Master Su Nan, already somewhat introverted, had become even more taciturn. He

He spent his days either hiding in his room reading or tinkering with strange things.

They even needed Young Master Kei's help to collect various herbs and small animals.

His actions were baffling.

Fortunately, Young Master Kei was there.

Unlike Young Master Sunan, Young Master Kei had been diligently cultivating his skills since arriving in Blackrock City, becoming a high-ranking knight at only nineteen years old, and was deeply loved by his subordinates.

Having such a ruler was undoubtedly a good thing for Blackrock City, which had long suffered from the harassment and raids of the Blackscale Lizardmen.

While pondering this, Old Geller had already reached the door of the innermost room and gently knocked.

"Young Master Sunan, I've brought you Silver Moonflowers."

"Just leave them at the door."

A weak voice came from inside.

"Yes, Young Master Sunan."

Old Geller skillfully placed the wooden box on the right side of the door, then bowed and turned to leave the courtyard.

After a while, the door creaked open, and a boy of about sixteen or seventeen, somewhat thin and pale-faced, came out.

He bent down, picked up the wooden box, turned, and went back into the room, closing the door behind him.

The room was simply decorated, with long tables piled up on all four sides, neatly arranged with glass bottles and jars containing various strange materials.

In the center of the room stood a large laboratory table, almost half the space, covered with glass bottles, test tubes, beakers, and other tools of all sizes.

Because the doors and windows were tightly closed, the air was filled with a mixture of pungent, sweet, and disinfectant-like odors.

Su Nan casually placed the wooden box on the table, then picked up the book he hadn't finished reading and continued to concentrate.

About half an hour later, he finally turned to the last page and snapped the book shut.

At the same time, a line of text appeared in the air in front of him:

[Reading "Fundamentals of Pharmacy," 'Potion Making' learning progress +0.5%.]

['Potion Making' learning progress is now 100%; obtained 'Potion Making Lv1']

Su Nan let out a long breath, a hint of joy appearing on his pale face.

After more than two months of studying relevant books and numerous hands-on exercises in drug extraction and purification, Su Nan had finally completed his learning of potion making.

Putting down "Fundamentals of Pharmacy," Su Nan looked at a box in the corner of the room.

Inside were more than twenty books,

all wizarding tomes collected by his predecessor.

The top book was covered in a hard, cold black cover, with a string of strange, illegible characters on the front.

However, Su Nan could decipher the meaning of these characters—Enlightenment.

This was an introductory book for wizarding apprentices.

Those with wizarding aptitude could activate their spiritual power after reading it, becoming the lowest level, a first-grade wizarding apprentice, embarking on the wizarding path of seeking truth and power.

Those without wizarding aptitude, however, would either fall into a coma or die if forced to read it.

His predecessor had rashly read an introductory book and ultimately died, which led to his usurpation of the throne.

To Su Nan's surprise, the world he had transmigrated to was actually a virtual reality game he had just encountered in his previous life.

The game's setting was a vast continent of swords and magic.

Swords referred to knights,

and magic to wizards.

Of course, this was during the early stages of version 1.0, "Knight Wars."

Wizards had abandoned the elementally barren continent a thousand years ago, venturing into the multiverse to find a more suitable inhabited plane.

They wouldn't return until the continent's elements revived a thousand years later.

Currently, the martial class known as knights was active on the stage of the era.

"It's a pity I entered the game in version 2.0, 'The Wizards Return,' and didn't know much about version 1.0. Otherwise, with that information, I could have survived much better in this world."

Su Nan sighed.

Fortunately, as a transmigrator, he wasn't without his advantages.

With a slight thought, a semi-transparent screen slowly appeared before him.   [Sunan Yanest, Human Male, 16 years old]

[Spirit 1.5/Constitution 0.7]

[Skills]

Star Ring Meditation Lv1 (103/1000)

Potion Making Lv1 (0/1000)

Player Panel!

This is one of his transmigration perks.

Through the panel, he can clearly understand his strength.

All skill learning is also digitized, and progress bars can be seen. As long as he learns, his proficiency will definitely increase.

"As long as I grind, I can steadily improve my strength. This is the advantage of being a player."

With a thought, Sunan's screen flashed instantly, turning into a dense grid of ten rows and a hundred cells.

[Synthetic Cube]

This is his other cheat.

Simply put, the Synthetic Cube can synthesize multiple identical items to further improve their quality, effect, or power.

Sunan opened the wooden box brought by Old Geller. Inside, a layer of red velvet cloth was laid out, and ten small silver flowers lay quietly on it.

Silver Moon Flowers.

A plant with invigorating properties.

Many nobles have a habit of making herbal tea with silver moonflowers; a cup in the morning can dispel sleepiness and invigorate them.

This is because silver moonflowers contain stimulating components.

Purifying and refining these components further enhances their energizing effect.

Su Nan carried the wooden box to the experimental table in the center of the room, took out the silver moonflowers, placed them in a beaker, and then lit the alcohol lamp for heating.

"It's a pity I couldn't find any magic stones; otherwise, I could have crafted a magic stone lamp for making potions, which would have been even more effective."

In the 1.0 version of the game, the Starry Continent was still an elemental desert, with a pitifully low concentration of energy particles in the air.

As a result, various resources had drastically decreased compared to before, including magic stones.

At this point in time, the Starry Continent simply didn't have enough resources to cultivate a formal wizard.

Fortunately, Su Nan had a synthesis cube.

Even without sufficient resources, he could find a way to synthesize one himself.

He added some water to the beaker and covered it with a glass lid.

Under the heat of the flame, the liquid in the beaker quickly boiled, producing a large number of bubbles.

In just two or three minutes, the water inside turned a beautiful silvery blue, and a large amount of steam billowed out from the edge of the lid, filling the room with a refreshing aroma.

Su Nan took a gentle breath and immediately felt invigorated.

A dozen minutes later, the bubbling stopped, and most of the liquid in the beaker had evaporated.

Su Nan picked up the beaker, glanced at it, and nodded in satisfaction.

Approximately 100 ml of silver moonflower extract.

[Successfully completed one drug purification and refining operation; potion-making proficiency +1]

Su Nan divided the extract into 10 equal portions, each 10 ml, then opened the synthesis cube and placed one portion of extract into the grid.

The corresponding information quickly appeared above the grid:

[Silver Moonflower Extract, purity 37.12%, increases mental activity by 21.47% after consumption, lasting 10 hours and 35 minutes.]

Su Nan placed the remaining 9 portions of extract into the cube as well.

The interface instantly changed, and a large grid appeared on the right, containing a more vibrant and ethereal silver-blue liquid.

[Silver Moonflower Essence, purity 76.44%, increases mental activity by 160.24% after consumption, lasting 10 days, 14 hours, and 22 minutes.]

Clearly, this was the synthesized product.

Ordinary silver moonflower extract wouldn't have cumulative effects.

Ten portions of extract combined would only maintain mental activity for less than five days, with a mere 21.47% increase.

However, after being synthesized using the magic cube, both the effect and duration were significantly enhanced.

This was the power of the synthesis cube!

Su

Nan tilted his head back and drank the silver moonflower essence.

As the effects spread, his mind instantly became clear.

Without wasting any time, he sat cross-legged and began meditating.
