Chapter 46 - Won't repeat the past

David's POV

There was smoke. Too much for that closed room. It smelled of nothing except nicotine. 

I paced in front of the infrared monitor for what had to be the thousandth damn time, dragging hard on yet another cigarette while the screen glowed an ugly red and orange. 

Thermals.

That's all it showed.

Blurry heat signatures.

Shapes.

Movements.

And right there in the center of the screen was the outline of her…woman's slender, petite body.

Even through the distortion I could tell. The posture. The way she stood.

I checked the time.

Again.

Then the screen.

Then the time.

Then the screen.

My hand planted itself on my hip as I exhaled smoke towards the ceiling.

"Come on…" I muttered under my breath.

Nothing.

The blurry figures on the screen shifted slightly.

My jaw tightened.

"Why won't he reject her?" I snapped. The empty room mocked back.
