It was a cold and silent night when five friends decided to explore the abandoned school on the edge of their town. The building had been empty for more than twenty years, and people believed it was haunted. Broken windows, rusted gates, and dark corridors made it look frightening even from outside. Still, curiosity pushed them forward.
As they entered the school, the main door slammed shut behind them with a loud bang. Everyone froze. The air inside felt heavy, and the smell of dust filled their lungs. Using their phone flashlights, they slowly walked through the hallway. Old classrooms stood on both sides, with torn curtains and cracked blackboards. Suddenly, they heard footsteps echoing from the upper floor.
At first, they thought it was just their imagination. But the sound grew louder and closer. One of the friends suggested leaving immediately, but the main door would not open. Panic spread among them. Just then, a loud scream echoed through the building. Their hearts raced as they ran toward the staircase, not knowing why but feeling drawn to the sound.
On the second floor, they found a room with its door half open. Inside, they saw a shadow moving on the wall, even though there was no one in the room. The lights of their phones started flickering. Fear took control of their minds. One friend slipped and fell, injuring his leg. Carrying him, the others searched desperately for another exit.
Suddenly, they noticed moonlight coming through a broken window at the end of the corridor. Gathering all their strength, they ran toward it. As they jumped out, the sound of footsteps stopped instantly. They landed outside, breathing heavily but safe.
When they looked back, the school stood completely silent, as if nothing had happened. The main door was now wide open. None of them spoke on the way home. That night changed them forever. They realized some places are better left unexplored, and bravery sometimes means knowing when to run.
