Chapter 8: Sea Earthquake
"Master! What is Dino doing?" Levy asked. Dino almost never showed his magic in the guild, which was the only thing explicitly prohibited by the Master. She had only heard of super magic that seemed incredibly powerful, but she'd never actually seen it.
Makarov shook his head. "Well, I don't know exactly, but it doesn't look like he's up to anything good."
"I have a bad feeling about this!" Lisanna said while hugging Happy.
"Aye!" Happy agreed with Lisanna's statement.
At that moment, they heard Dino saying to himself, "Well, at this level, nobody should die."
After saying that, Dino quickly spread his arms and punched the air on both sides with both fists.
"Crack, crack, crack!!" A sound like shattering glass echoed through the air, and massive cracks appeared around his fists.
"Did he just shatter the space itself?!" It was the first time Levy, Lisanna, and Happy had seen Dino actually fight. Watching him fracture space with his bare fists was absolutely shocking.
Then something happened that left them even more stunned. Enormous waves hundreds of meters high rose on both sides of the island, rushing toward it with terrifying speed.
Everyone on the island felt it even more profoundly, because the entire ground beneath their feet began shaking violently.
"Oh my god! What is that?!" Everyone stared in horror at the monstrous tsunami rising on both sides of the island.
"A tsunami! How could there be such a terrifying tsunami!" Cana gasped.
"Cana! What are you waiting for? Get underground!" Natsu seemed mentally prepared for this. The moment he saw the tsunami, he immediately used his flames to blast a large hole in the ground.
Cana heard Natsu's call and jumped in without hesitation, using her magic cards to set up defensive barriers.
"Requip: Black Wing Armor!"
"Full Body Takeover: Satan Soul!"
Erza grabbed Gray while Mirajane carried Elfman, both flying into the sky before the tsunami hit.
"BOOM!!!!"
The terrifying tsunami crashed onto the island. Water is the source of life, and normally getting splashed doesn't hurt. But when massive amounts gather together, it gains the power to destroy everything. Nothing could stand against it. Animals on the island were swept away, trees snapped and were torn from their roots, rocks were pulverized. Everything on the island was demolished by the devastating impact.
The tsunami came and retreated just as quickly, leaving an apocalyptic scene of destruction in its wake.
Gray stared at the devastation and said in shock, "Is this why Dino is called a 'walking natural disaster'?" Just witnessing this spectacle made fear rise involuntarily in his chest.
Erza's face turned serious. "Yes, this is Dino's ultimate destructive super magic. If he wanted to, he could have sunk that entire island just now. Honestly, even if all six of us worked together, we might have only a slim chance against him. Fighting him alone? No chance whatsoever."
"Sis! Even you and I together couldn't beat Dino?" Elfman asked.
Mirajane's expression darkened. "Damn it, that bastard was holding back when he fought me."
"Bleh!" Natsu and Cana managed to crawl out from underground, completely dumbfounded by the scene before them.
Dino scratched his head with an embarrassed smile. "Ah! Haha! Looks like I overdid it a little."
"That's not 'a little,' that's way too much!!!" Everyone on the boat shouted at him.
"Well… there's a rather serious problem. Could someone bring me to the island? I can't swim."
"WHAT?!" Everyone on the ship collapsed onto the deck. The shift was too extreme. One moment he created a world-destroying tsunami with a casual motion, and the next he's saying he can't swim? Was this some kind of joke?
Dino had eaten the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. He'd actually tested it with hopeful expectations, thinking maybe since this world was different, the Devil Fruit weakness might not transfer. Unfortunately, his conclusion was that the curse of Devil Fruit users had been perfectly inherited.
Of course, Dino didn't particularly care. After all, seawater couldn't suppress his strength completely, but sometimes, like right now, it was rather embarrassing.
Finally, Happy flew Dino to the island. "Happy, thanks a lot. Oh, perfect timing! There's a huge tuna here for you." The tsunami had washed plenty of fish onto the island, and after the waters receded, many were left stranded. The most conspicuous was an enormous tuna.
Happy's eyes lit up as he drooled. "Tuna! Such expensive fish! I've never gotten to eat something this fancy before! Dino, you're the best!" Happy happily grabbed the tuna and flew back to the ship.
"Master, is everyone alright?" Lisanna had been slightly worried about Dino at first, but in the blink of an eye, he'd transformed from a harmless young man into a world-destroying powerhouse.
"That kid knows his limits… well, probably!" Makarov looked at the island that had been nearly obliterated by Dino's attack and felt his confidence waver.
"So you're all here?"
Dino looked ahead. Six figures appeared in the distance. The once lush island had been flattened by his attack, making the landscape completely visible. There was no point in hiding anymore. Besides, Dino's previous demonstration had made them understand the gap between them. This wasn't an opponent any of them could handle alone.
