Chapter 22 - Chapter Twenty-Two — The Shattering of Limits

The Blood Moon hung low, its silver light spilling over the forest like liquid steel. The air was thick, electric with tension. Wolves moved cautiously, sensing the storm before it fully arrived.

Nyra stood at the center of the clearing, Kael beside her, golden eyes glowing, pulse synchronized perfectly with hers. Silver energy flickered across her skin, veins glowing like molten light. Her ancestors' whispers were louder than ever, urging, warning, guiding.

Lucien's presence hung in the shadows, palpable and suffocating, but Nyra barely noticed. Her focus was on the surge inside her, the power clawing for release, demanding freedom.

Kael touched her shoulder. "Nyra… you feel it. Don't fight it. Channel it. But stay in control. This is… beyond anything you've done."

Nyra nodded, teeth gritted, energy spiraling wildly. "I… I have to try. For the pack… for you… for everyone."

She inhaled deeply, and the world seemed to still. Her pulse became a drumbeat of silver fire. The ancestral energy flared, massive spectral wolves forming, glowing brighter than the Blood Moon itself.

Then, she let go.

Silver light exploded outward like a supernova, arcs of ancestral energy tearing through the clearing, reshaping trees, rocks, even the earth itself. Ghost wolves surged in every direction, intercepting threats before they even moved.

Kael pressed to her side, mate bond flaring, gold intertwining with silver, amplifying the power to impossible levels. The energy pulsed like a living entity, reacting to their emotions, their heartbeat, their combined will.

"Focus!" Kael roared, claws extended. "We can push it further!"

Nyra's vision blurred with ancestral images — past guardians, wolves, warriors of her bloodline, all screaming in warning and encouragement. She felt her power stretching beyond her control, threatening to consume everything in the clearing… herself included.

But the mate bond held her, steadying the storm. Gold and silver pulsed as one, channeling the raw ancestral power with precision. She struck outward, energy arcs carving barriers, striking enemies, and protecting the pack in perfect harmony.

The forest itself seemed to bow to her will. Trees bent, shadows twisted, the very ground trembled. Hunters sent by Lucien were scattered like leaves, forced to retreat, disoriented and terrified by a force they could not comprehend.

Nyra collapsed to her knees, energy still flaring faintly from her hands. Her chest heaved. Sweat, blood, and silver light mingled on her skin. She had done it — pushed beyond limits, channeled ancestral power fully, defended the pack, and survived.

Kael knelt beside her, pressing her hands against his chest. "You… you've done what no one else could. You've awakened fully… and controlled it. I'm… so proud of you."

Nyra exhaled shakily, pulse still racing. "I… I could feel it… everything. The bond, the pack, the ancestors… it was all flowing together. I almost lost myself…"

Kael's lips brushed her temple, golden light pulsing faintly around them. "You didn't. You mastered it. And now… we can face anything. Together."

In the shadows, Lucien's eyes gleamed with a mixture of awe and fury.

"So… she pushes beyond the limits. Excellent. But the higher she rises… the harder the fall. Soon, she will face a power even she cannot contain."

Nyra looked up at the Blood Moon, silver and gold still lingering in the air, and whispered, "I am ready. Whatever comes next… I will not falter."

And Kael pressed his forehead to hers, pulse syncing, mate bond glowing, and the forest — the pack — felt unbreakable under their combined power.
