Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The War Begins

Chapter 37: The War Begins

"You chose to become a Medical Ninja instead of a regular ninja? That is a very good choice."

Hiruzen pondered for a moment before nodding. "Honestly, it is probably for the best. At least for a child your age, Konoha Hospital is far more suitable than the battlefield."

As he spoke, his gaze rested on Yuu's youthful face.

"Yes. Thank you, Hokage sama."

Yuu bowed respectfully, then backed away in an orderly manner.

After returning home, he rested for a few days. Once Konoha Hospital's letter of appointment arrived, he reported immediately.

The hospital itself was ordinary, with nothing particularly strange about it. After stepping inside, Yuu quickly realized something else.

Even in Konoha Hospital, not everyone was a Medical Ninja.

Aside from a small portion of staff who could use Medical Ninjutsu, the majority were still ordinary people. From that alone, it was clear that even in Konoha, Medical Ninja were relatively rare. They were a small minority.

Even the hospital could not afford the luxury of assigning Medical Ninja everywhere.

The moment Yuu arrived, he was quickly welcomed by the people around him.

Part of it was because of his age. At only seven, he was easily the youngest medical staff member in the entire hospital.

On top of that, most of the staff were women, so a boy like him naturally drew a lot of attention.

The other part was his skill.

As mentioned before, Yuu's Medical Ninjutsu was very solid. It was not at the very top, but within Konoha Hospital, he could still be considered one of the better ones.

In a place like this, ability mattered. People judged by results.

In just over a month, Yuu had fully blended into the rhythm of the hospital.

"Huh, you are Rin senpai, right?"

That day, Yuu came to work as usual, only to see a familiar figure.

Rin had come to the hospital.

Yuu greeted her first, his tone polite. "Rin senpai."

"You are…"

Rin stared at him in surprise, then only recognized him after a moment. "It's you…"

"Rin senpai, is something troubling you?" Yuu asked. "If you need medicine, I can prepare it for you right away."

"It's not for me."

As soon as she said it, Rin looked a little embarrassed.

She hesitated, then finally explained why she had come.

The injured person was not her, but Obito.

Recently, Obito had gotten into a conflict with some people and fought them without permission. In the end, it was a mutual loss. His opponents suffered, but Obito was injured as well.

And the reason he got into the conflict was because of Kakashi.

Not long ago, something major had happened in Konoha.

Kakashi's father, the famous White Fang of Konoha, had suddenly committed suicide at home.

For a ninja, dying like that was undoubtedly seen as disgraceful.

When the news spread, rumors exploded across the village.

Even if he seemed less prominent in later generations, in this era the White Fang's reputation was at its peak. He was an existence comparable to the Sannin.

The impact of someone like that taking his own life was enormous.

Some people began to slander and defame him in secret. Obito could not stand hearing them insult his friend, so he argued with them, and things escalated into a fight.

That was how he ended up injured.

"So that is what happened…"

After hearing Rin's explanation, Yuu could not help smiling faintly. "Obito senpai really is passionate."

Whatever he would become later, right now, before any corruption, Obito was still a hot blooded youth.

A person like that, someone who could not tolerate his friend being slandered, doing something like this was not strange at all.

"But Kakashi senpai…"

Thinking of Kakashi, Yuu let out a quiet sigh. He genuinely did not know how to comment.

"He must be very sad right now."

"Yes." Rin nodded. "After I drop off Obito's medicine, I plan to go see Kakashi…"

"I hope all of you seniors recover soon." Yuu spoke softly. "I have the medicine prepared. Rin senpai, please take it and use it."

"If you need anything else later, just come find me."

"Thank you for the trouble, then."

Rin nodded, said goodbye, and left.

After she walked away, Yuu watched her retreating figure and let out a deep sigh.

War was about to begin.

The longer Yuu stayed in Konoha Hospital, the more clearly he felt the change.

As days passed, the atmosphere throughout Konoha grew tighter and tighter, like a rope being pulled to its limit. Everything seemed to be shifting, little by little.

Then, at a certain moment, the war finally erupted.

At first, the conflict ignited between the Land of Wind and the Land of Lightning.

Because of unresolved grievances from the previous Great Ninja War, there had always been friction between the two sides. This time, the clashes escalated, and both sides deployed large forces to the border.

But just as the larger war was about to explode, a major event overturned the situation.

The Third Kazekage, known as the strongest Kazekage, suddenly disappeared on the battlefield.

That single disappearance caused the entire front to change in an instant.

After the Land of Lightning received the news, they immediately sent troops toward Sunagakure, triggering a chain reaction that spread outward.

Thus, the Third Great Ninja War began.

"Relax."

Inside Konoha Hospital, Yuu stood in front of a young man and placed one hand on his chest.

A thin stream of chakra flowed into the patient's body. Under Yuu's precise control, it quickly stabilized the internal injuries and maintained the man's vital signs.

With Yuu's ability, instantly restoring someone to perfect health was impossible.

Even if he could force it, the chakra cost would be unbearable.

That was why, as a Medical Ninja, his priority was not miracles. It was survival. Keep the patient alive, stop the bleeding, stabilize the condition, and prevent death from injuries.

Being able to do that already made him an excellent Medical Ninja.

After finishing treatment on the newly delivered patient, a woman approached and advised him, "Yuu, go rest."

"You've been working for a long time. If you keep going like this, it will be bad for your health."

"Yes. I'll leave things here to you, then."

Yuu nodded and stepped away.

After leaving the hospital, the exhaustion on his face faded, and his gaze turned forward.

"The war is getting more intense."

Looking at the busy crowds, that thought surfaced again.

Based on what he had been seeing lately, the number of injured being transported to the hospital had increased sharply.

That could only mean one thing.

The fighting on the front lines was brutal, and the intensity was still rising.
