Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Return

Chapter 30: Return

Yuu did not have much confidence in his own talent.

Ordinary Sage Mode was one thing. There were countless examples, past and future, of people who succeeded. The only difference was how far they could take it.

But Six Paths Sage Mode was another matter entirely. Aside from the Sage of Six Paths himself, only Naruto had ever possessed it.

And even Naruto had not awakened Six Paths Sage Mode through training alone. He gained it through something close to a direct transmission of power from the Sage of Six Paths.

With that reality in mind, Yuu had no reason to indulge in unrealistic fantasies.

So he did not overthink it. He went straight to the Great Toad Sage and asked for the pure, orthodox Sage inheritance.

The Great Toad Sage agreed readily.

His attitude toward Yuu was respectful to the extreme. He did not refuse a single request, accepting everything without hesitation.

In truth, there was nothing to refuse.

Hagoromo and Hamura had already learned orthodox Sage Mode. Even if the Great Toad Sage refused, Yuu could still obtain it through them.

So asking now was less a negotiation and more a courtesy.

After the discussion ended, Yuu invited the Great Toad Sage to rest and personally entertained him with formal hospitality.

The Great Toad Sage was almost overwhelmed.

The hospitality itself looked ordinary, but the meaning behind it was anything but.

Yuu's status allowed him to represent the entire Land of Ancestors, and even all of humanity.

When Yuu personally received the Great Toad Sage in the name of the Daimyo of the Land of Ancestors, it meant the human world had acknowledged Mount Myōboku's lineage.

That acknowledgment carried enormous weight.

In the past, although Mount Myōboku had been called a sacred land by some, most people still viewed it as nothing more than a nest of demons, no different from other monsters.

But from this day forward, Mount Myōboku's reputation as a sacred land would be firmly established.

The Great Toad Sage understood that, which was why he felt so unsettled.

After seeing the Great Toad Sage off, Yuu returned to the palace and went to find Kaguya.

Since her battle with Hagoromo and Hamura, she had returned as agreed, keeping to the palace.

"Still haven't figured it out?"

When Yuu stepped into the place where she stayed, he saw Kaguya standing alone ahead. His expression softened without him even noticing.

In the secluded garden, she stood like a goddess above the world. Her presence was too unique, too striking, leaving an impression that could not be erased.

She had been there for a long time.

Only when she sensed Yuu's arrival did she turn around in silence, her gaze settling on him.

Yuu walked up, pulled her into his arms, and spoke in a low voice.

"I'm leaving."

The moment the words fell, the body in his arms trembled slightly, as if a soundless emotion had shaken her from within.

Kaguya looked at him, her eyes heavy with reluctance.

For her, it was a feeling she could not easily name.

Ever since she descended from the heavens into this world, she had been with Yuu. Decades had passed without separation.

Now that he was about to leave, her heart became tangled, and she did not know what to say.

If she were someone else, perhaps she would have reacted differently.

But she was Kaguya.

She said nothing at first, only watching him in silence.

"Can't you stay?"

After a long time, she finally spoke, her voice quiet and stubborn.

"I don't want you to leave."

"I'm afraid not."

Yuu smiled, gentle and apologetic.

"There are things I still need to do. So I have to leave for now."

"Then take me with you."

Kaguya's eyes did not waver.

"I'll go with you."

The palace behind her was magnificent, brilliant beyond measure, but if Yuu, the person closest to her, was not there, it would be as if everything inside had lost its soul.

As for Hagoromo and Hamura, the two of them had already broken her heart the day they chose to strike her first.

"I can't take you with me."

Yuu met her gaze, his expression filled with regret.

"But I promise you, I will return as soon as I can. It won't be too long."

"Trust me. One day, I will come back for you."

"To you, that day might not be far away."

To bring his main body across worlds and return here, the points required would be immense.

Yuu did not know how long it would take to gather them.

But as long as he kept moving forward, he would reach that day eventually.

After all, the one waiting was Kaguya, and her lifespan was nearly infinite.

As long as they continued walking toward each other, they would meet again.

Kaguya did not speak.

But sorrow appeared clearly in her eyes.

She nodded silently and fell into a quiet silence.

In the days that followed, Yuu set everything aside and formally handed the authority of the Land of Ancestors over to Hagoromo and Hamura.

At the same time, he accompanied Kaguya as they traveled across various parts of the world.

They did not travel alone.

They brought two children with them.

Indra and Ashura.

After the confrontation, the mother and son relationship between Kaguya and the Hagoromo brothers would take a long time to mend.

But Indra and Ashura were still young. Using their youth to cultivate a bond between grandmother and grandsons was not a bad idea.

As it turned out, compared to the present Hagoromo and Hamura, Kaguya had a better impression of Indra and Ashura.

With Yuu smoothing things over, their time together remained fairly pleasant.

But happy moments always passed too quickly.

Before they realized it, several months slipped by.

When the prompt on the panel in front of him reached the fifty year mark, Yuu knew his time was up.

"I'm leaving."

He whispered softly, smiling at Kaguya in front of him.

In the next instant, the world changed.

Color drained from everything, stripped away inch by inch, turning the world into black and white.

Yuu's essence was pulled out, leaving this body behind as he crossed the boundary between worlds and returned to his original self.

When he opened his eyes again, he was no longer in that familiar palace, but somewhere else entirely.

Dilapidated houses surrounded him, stirring a feeling that was both familiar and strangely distant.

This was his home in Konoha.

"I'm back…"

Standing there, Yuu let out a quiet sigh.

A strange weakness flooded him.

After leaving his previous body, he felt terrifyingly weak now.

It was no wonder.

No matter how ordinary his previous body had been, it was still the body of an adult. And after being nourished by Kaguya's Kāma power, its physical strength had not been weak at all.

But his current main body was only an ordinary child, not even seven years old.

Weakness was natural.

Of course, that was not the most important thing right now.

"Let's see what I gained from this trip…"

Yuu sighed inwardly and lowered his gaze to what was in front of him.
