Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Lamat Revolver

With a creak, the slightly old door slowly opened.

The hinges seemed to have been unoiled for a long time, emitting a slight friction sound.

Instantly, an old and mysterious aura rushed forward, the air filled with a mixed scent of wood, metal, and dust.

The first thing that caught the eye were several rows of dazzling, neatly arranged shelves.

The shelves were packed with all sorts of strange and wonderful items, making it difficult to know where to look first.

There were various pocket watches, exquisite daggers, crystal clear gems, and some bizarre gadgets Johnny couldn't even name.

The variety of items was so extensive that Johnny, upon entering, was like a child in a toy store, looking around excitedly, his eyes hardly enough to take it all in.

Just then, a clerk in a sharp suit approached with a beaming smile.

His suit was impeccably pressed, his tie neatly knotted, and his leather shoes shined brightly. His face was filled with enthusiasm and attentiveness, making one feel as comfortable as if bathed in a spring breeze.

This attire might be common in the Eastern Region, but it was rare in Blackwater Town.

"Hello, sir! Welcome to our shop, is there anything I can do for you?"

The clerk bowed slightly and asked politely, his voice carrying a hint of unconcealed excitement.

Johnny returned a friendly smile and got straight to the point:

"Hello, sir. I urgently need two revolvers, plus a matching gun belt, a high-quality holster and off-hand holster, and a matching ammunition pouch large enough to hold sufficient rounds."

Hearing this description, the clerk's eyes immediately lit up, secretly calculating how much profit this deal would bring.

He then excitedly led Johnny to the firearms display rack, his happiness clearly visible on his face.

"Please look, respected customer, this is a cowboy revolver originally manufactured by the Colt Factory, the most reliable partner for every family in the America West.

And its price is only 13 dollars. The price is very beautiful, what do you think, customer?"

As the clerk spoke, he carefully picked up a revolver and handed it to Johnny... Johnny finally started to get annoyed by the clerk's non-stop sales pitch.

He frowned, thinking how talkative this clerk was, even more nagging than a market vendor.

"Wait a minute!" Johnny waved his hand impatiently, then immediately added:

"I said, Shop Owner, why don't you just give me your shop's booklet so I can pick things out properly myself."

As he spoke, he frowned, seemingly dissatisfied with the items he had seen earlier.

Seeing this, the clerk dared not delay, quickly retrieved a red shopping catalog from under the counter, and respectfully handed it to Johnny.

"This is our latest product catalog. Please take your time looking. Call me anytime if you need anything."

After speaking, the clerk stepped aside, still wearing his professional smile, but internally calculating how he could get this customer to buy more things.

The clerk stood nearby, occasionally glancing at him secretly, feeling a bit anxious, afraid this big client might suddenly change his mind.

Johnny took the booklet, and a sense of familiarity welled up in his heart—wasn't this the catalog he used to jokingly call the "wilderness taobao"?

It was said to be uniformly distributed by a large company to all its cooperating shops.

Johnny eagerly flipped open the booklet, where a high-definition photo of a product was meticulously placed in the center of each page.

Written in detail on the background of these photos were the product name, the corresponding manufacturing company, and eye-catching advertising slogans.

Even more noticeable, clearly marked in the most prominent spot in the upper right corner of the page, were the original price and the current discounted price of the item.

It must be said that this booklet was excellently produced, both in terms of layout design and content presentation.

Johnny quickly scanned the catalog, his gaze instantly drawn to the image on the first page.

What greeted his eyes was an incredibly handsome revolver image, with the prominent words "lemat revolver" written across it.

Little tip: All weapons in this text adopt the Game Worldview, and all weapons except the Volcanic Pistol use Fixed Ammunition.

Seeing this handgun, Johnny's memory was instantly pulled back to his time playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Back then, this lemat revolver was his favorite firearm!

It not only had a high capacity of 10 rounds, but the sound it made when fired was crisp and loud, making one feel excited just hearing it.

Moreover, most importantly, this gun could also load a Shotgun Shell, which could instantly kill enemies like charging Cougars in critical moments.

Such a unique design made it stand out among many firearms, appearing particularly distinctive.

Although he was intensely covetous of this revolver, Johnny continued to look down, thinking that the number of firearms here was countless, and he even suspected he had come to a regular gun shop.

The same cowboy revolver had over a dozen versions, priced from $1.5 to $13. This was vastly different from what he had seen in the game. However, as Johnny carefully read the introduction, his confusion was resolved: many firearms were not "genuine" but were rather imitations made by small companies, which explained the cheaper price.

It could be said that out of 10 people in the West who own 9 cowboy revolvers, at least 7 were churned out by these small factories, as the genuine price of up to $13 would deter a large number of newcomers.

Johnny had no immediate plans to buy a rifle; a carbine repeating rifle was enough for his temporary use. After browsing the handguns, he stopped looking.

Johnny first selected two lemat revolvers, and then, based on the clerk's suggestion, he chose a simple pure black holster and off-hand holster, as well as a brownish-yellow ammunition pouch.

Finally, he asked the clerk with a smile: "Shop Owner, seeing as I'm buying so many valuable items, can the price be discounted further?"

After Johnny activated his [Trade Mastery] ability multiple times, talking until his mouth was dry, the clerk finally compromised reluctantly.

An additional $4.5 discount was applied on top of the previous red wilderness taobao discount, plus 3 boxes of High-Velocity Ammunition for revolvers (one box containing 60 rounds), bringing the final price to $45.5.

(Two lemat revolvers $46.5, two holsters $2, gun belt $0.5, ammunition pouch $1)

Finally, the clerk asked if he needed to modify or engrave the handgun components, which Johnny refused. It wasn't that he didn't want his handgun to have better performance, but modifications required at least 2 days to complete (it wouldn't be instant like in the game), and he couldn't wait.

Just as Johnny paid and happily put on his new gear to leave, he inadvertently glimpsed a silver-white handgun placed in a corner, and he immediately inquired as he walked:

"Shop Owner, you're not being honest! Why didn't I see this handgun in the booklet earlier?"

[Ding! Congratulations Host for finding a Magical Item! The Main Quest System has been activated, and the System Storage Function has been activated. Please check immediately, Host!]

"Main Quest? Magical Item? System Storage?" Johnny wondered, "Let me see what this is," and immediately opened the Transparent Panel to check.

[Main Quest One: Become a qualified Gunsmith.]

[Mission Completion Condition: Possess one Magical Item.]

[Completion Reward: 1. Red Perk—Gunsmith—Click for details; 2. One complete Gunsmith Workbench.]

[Red☆Gunsmith] (Level 1)

[As a qualified Great Benefactor of the West, how could others understand the weapon you trust the most? Perk Effect: ① You can modify firearms to the maximum extent, allowing them to exert abilities beyond their own. ② When you gift a Magical Item to its most suitable owner, you can copy the Magical Item's Perk and apply it without limitation to your newly modified firearms.]

"Holy crap! An Aura Type Trait! Isn't that awesome? Must grab it!"

Johnny's grin was unstoppable, like an AK, and he carefully examined the Magical Item.

[Magical Item—hawkeye revolver (Silver)]

[Perk Effect: ① When this item is equipped in your main holster, the smaller the chips you bet in Card, Board, and Mahjong Games (you know what I mean, can't write it directly), the higher your probability of winning. Perk Effect: ② When you collect and equip two hawkeye revolvers, the larger the chips you bet, the higher your probability of winning.]

Johnny then turned his attention to the System Storage recorded on the Transparent Panel.

[System Storage can only store Magical Items and System Rewards.]

Johnny muttered, "Damn! It's not a BUG-Type Function like the Eastern Legend Satchel! Must give a terrible review."

"Sir, here's the thing: the original owner of this gun couldn't repay a massive gambling debt owed to the House, so all his possessions were confiscated by the House, and some of his items naturally flowed into the Black Market. This gun you see came from that."

The clerk explained while placing the hawkeye revolver into a high-end wooden box, allowing the generous customer to examine it closely.

"I feel destined to own this item, and considering I've bought so much merchandise here all at once, Shop Owner, you can't rip me off!" Johnny suppressed his curiosity and looked at the clerk.

In fact, the clerk was also impressed by this seemingly ordinary but genuinely generous customer, even though the customer had haggled tirelessly over a few boxes of ammunition. But it was undeniable that he was generous, buying many things that usually sat unsold.

Crucially, Johnny's repeated use of the title "Shop Owner" made him feel utterly delighted.

"Alright, sir. Although I haven't had a chance to introduce it to you yet, please allow me one more word. This revolver has been appraised by our internal Gunsmiths. All components use the most advanced parts and are heavily plated with Silver-Zinc Alloy. It offers maximum performance while being more aesthetically pleasing.

Therefore, the price is slightly higher than the original Double-Action Revolver. Its selling price is $13.5 (original Double-Action Revolver $9.75)."

"But seeing how generous you are, sir, how about I make the decision to sell it to you for $11? Let's be friends."

Johnny felt a little embarrassed seeing the clerk's sincere eyes. In fact, his primary goal for haggling was to gain experience points for [Trade Mastery]. He immediately stopped being stingy and, in addition to buying the hawkeye revolver, bought 3 bottles of Potent Healing Tonic (Tier 2 Health Potion). The total cost came to $13.04.

Accompanied by the clerk's excited gaze, Johnny left the Black Market, laughing out loud as he looked at the three guns on his body. He mocked himself, "If my former self saw this scenario, he'd probably satirize me for trying to cosplay Swallow Eagle's Three Hands?"

"System! Check Panel update."

[Ding! Main Quest One completed. Reward has been issued to System Space.]

[Ding! Host Panel updated as follows:]

[1. New Perk acquired: [Red☆Gunsmith]; 2. Perk [Blue☆Trade Mastery] (Level 1) Experience 0→8; 3. New Item acquired—Gunsmith Workbench.]

"Satisfying!" Johnny casually placed the hawkeye revolver (Silver) into the System Space and closed the Panel. He quickly got into the carriage and rode away.
