"AAAAHHHHHH!"
Alongside ear‑piercing, inhuman screams, tears of blood began to stream from Sasuke's eyes.
It was the moment when the [Sharingan Phantom Core] completed its transformation from the Three‑Tomoe pattern into the Mangekyō.
Inside Sasuke's head, it felt as if something had suddenly clicked open.
In the next instant, the three tomoe in his eyes rapidly swirled and fused together — forming the Mangekyō Sharingan itself!
THUD!
The moment his eyes evolved, Sasuke's body could no longer withstand the strain, and he collapsed unconscious to the ground.
Since Shinji had made no effort to hide what was happening, Obito — disguised as Tobi — witnessed the entire scene, barely managing to keep his composure.
"I couldn't have seen wrong… That just now… was that the Mangekyō Sharingan?!"
Tobi was utterly shocked.
Sasuke was barely thirteen years old. To awaken the Mangekyō at such an age would mark him as an absolute genius — even during the Uchiha clan's most prosperous era.
But that wasn't what truly stunned him. It was Shinji.
Tobi had clearly seen Shinji take out an eyeball‑like object and, with such ease, guide Sasuke across the threshold from Three‑Tomoe to Mangekyō.
It was almost unbelievable. And the more one knew about just how difficult it was to awaken that power naturally, the more impossible this seemed.
"Shinji‑senpai… w‑was that just now… really the legendary Mangekyō Sharingan?"
Desperate for confirmation, Tobi set aside his caution, not caring if his curiosity seemed suspicious.
After all, knowledge of the Mangekyō was extremely rare — even within the Uchiha clan before its massacre. Outsiders knew practically nothing of it.
"The Mangekyō Sharingan?"
Deidara and Tamamo Hotaru looked confused, having no idea what had just happened to Sasuke.
Shinji glanced at Tobi, put the item away safely, and replied, "That's right. That is the true power of the Uchiha clan — the Mangekyō Sharingan. I didn't expect you to know about it."
Tobi scratched his head hurriedly, offering an explanation. "I… I've just heard people speak of it before. Seeing Sasuke's eyes just now… it all came back to me."
Shinji smiled inwardly but kept a straight face. He wasn't about to expose him right now.
Seeing the conversation about to end, Tobi couldn't help pressing further.
"I've always heard that awakening the Mangekyō is incredibly difficult… and that it can only be done through one's own power. But earlier, Sasuke seemed to awaken it because of your help, Shinji‑senpai. That… that's truly incredible."
Shinji waved his hand casually, as if it were nothing. "Just because others cannot do something doesn't mean I cannot. In truth, this is all a blessing bestowed by Lord Jashin. Praise be to Lord Jashin~"
"Damn it! Has Lord Jashin granted you another blessing?! AAAAAHHHH! When will it finally be my turn?!"
Tobi was about to say more when Deidara interrupted him loudly, leaving him speechless.
But his curiosity was burning far too strongly.
So much so that a long‑dormant Bond Mission suddenly activated.
---
[Mission: Obito's Curiosity]
[Objective]: Give the [Sharingan Phantom Core] to Obito and explain the correct way to use it.
[Reward]: Cursed Soul Value × 20,000 | Bond Value + 100
[P.S.]: Did you hear me? HAND IT OVER, HAND IT OVER, HAND IT OVER!!
---
...
Hearing the system notification, Shinji couldn't help but glance sideways at Tobi.
Damn it. He sees something good and immediately wants it for himself.
Was the [Sharingan Phantom Core] worth only 20,000 Cursed Soul Points? Not a chance. Not even with an added 100 Bond Points.
Obito's Bond Value was notoriously hard to raise — Shinji still hadn't broken through the first threshold with him, though he was close. So while he wanted those points, they weren't worth the cost.
Most importantly… it hurt to even think about it. Trading that item away would be a massive loss.
He still had a [Mission Difficulty Reduction Scroll] in stock. He could try lowering the requirement by 30%.
But then again — how exactly do you reduce the difficulty of a mission that simply says "give him the item"?
If the mission still required him to hand it over, it would be even worse than before.
Forget it. Screw this mission.
Since there was no penalty for refusal, Shinji simply ignored it.
While Sasuke lay unconscious, he took back the Kusanagi Sword he had given him earlier.
If he was going to invest in Sasuke, he wasn't going to be stingy about it!
He had previously drawn a [Cursed Tool Transformation Scroll]. At the time, he hadn't had a good weapon worth upgrading, so he'd saved it — now it would benefit "Sasu‑chan."
He chose to use it. A faint glow enveloped the blade for a brief moment, then vanished completely, as if nothing had happened.
Cursed Tool — [Kusanagi Sword]
- Indestructible: Forged from the hardest substance in existence and further reinforced. It is virtually impossible to damage or break.
- Heavenly Blade Strike: Can be controlled remotely through thought alone, moving as naturally as an extension of the user's own body.
- Eight‑Hundred Reach: The blade can extend up to 800 meters in length at maximum.
- Lightning Release Enhancement: Any Lightning Release technique channeled through or used with this blade gains a 200% power boost.
- Orochimaru‑Style Substitution: The user may leave an external body or image as a decoy and transfer their true form out through the mouth. No hand seals required. No chakra cost. Cooldown: 24 hours.
...
Holy hell!
Was it too late to take this sword back and keep it for himself?!
Shinji never expected the transformation to add five special effects at once!
While Indestructible, Heavenly Blade Strike, and Eight‑Hundred Reach were essentially enhanced versions of the Kusanagi's original properties, their practical value was enormous.
And then there were the last two — Lightning Release Enhancement and Orochimaru‑Style Substitution.
If the Raikage wielded this blade, he could probably slice Susano'o right in half with a single strike.
Still, giving it to Sasuke wasn't a waste. Sasuke could infuse his Lightning chakra into the blade perfectly well, and having a life‑saving technique like Substitution available every single day — for free and without seals — was invaluable.
Even so, Shinji felt a pang of jealousy.
Unbeknownst to him, his own Kubikiribōchō was beginning to fall behind in terms of power. In almost every serious fight lately, it had snapped once or twice.
Sigh.
Shinji shook his head. He wasn't about to steal from his own subordinate. What was given was given.
He would definitely get better things in the future — for example, the Six Paths Treasures had always interested him greatly.
If those legendary artifacts were transformed into Cursed Tools, they would surely become terrifying weapons.
That was definitely something worth pursuing. He began thinking seriously about how to get them.
As for the newly upgraded Kusanagi Sword, he decided to wait until Sasuke woke up. He planned to act cool, build up his prestige a bit, and then hand it over to the boy.
He couldn't guarantee that Sasuke would end up stronger than in the original timeline… but he could promise that right now, at this stage, Sasuke was already vastly superior to his canon self at the same age.
Now that the plot had changed, there was no way he would let Sasuke be outdone even by someone like Orochimaru!
