It had been one day since Corvin came home and the pack house felt like a held breath that had not decided yet whether to let itself out.
Corvin had been in his study most of the morning. Freya had been in the east wing. Ryker ate breakfast standing up and left before anyone could speak to him, and Rowan had been in back to back meetings with Marco since dawn, because apparently acting Alpha ended when the Alpha walked through the door but the paperwork did not get that message.
And Cole — Cole had vanished for half the night and come back before dawn and nobody had mentioned it at breakfast, which meant everybody was saving it for later, which meant later was going to be a busy day.
Nia made tea and then stood in the kitchen holding the cup without drinking it.
