Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Hexagon Warrior

[AUTHOR NOTE: A friend suggested that I ask readers for powerstones and reviews. It will help my fic reach more people. I know that readers are lazy. So I will give 3 extra chapters for 15 good reviews. 1 chapter for 5 review. And 1 extra chapter for 100 powerstone. I think this motivation is enough. Have a good day.]

The Front Lines.

"Hamaki, I have to go."

Minato Namikaze looked at the exhausted man beside him.

Mimura Hamaki, the Frontline Commander of Konoha's defense force, leaned heavily on a tree stump, his face smeared with soot.

"Did something go wrong with the Kannabi Bridge team?" Hamaki asked between breaths.

As a high-ranking Jonin, he knew the plan: The main force holds the line here to draw aggro, while a small elite squad flanks the enemy to destroy their logistics hub.

"Mhm." Minato nodded, his expression grave.

He had just finished massacring the main Iwagakure assault force. Fifty dead in minutes. But the eerie feeling from his marked kunai wouldn't leave him.

If Kannabi Bridge stood, Iwagakure could just ship in another fifty men tomorrow.

"I'll be back shortly."

Flash.

Minato vanished.

One second he was there; the next, only a yellow afterimage remained.

"The Flying Thunder God..." Hamaki shook his head in awe. "To think we'd see the Second Hokage's jutsu reborn in our time."

The Cave Site.

Minato reappeared in a cloud of dust.

Debris rained down around him. He coughed, waving his hand.

The cave was gone. Collapsed.

'Wait. Where am I?'

He looked around. He was buried under the rubble.

He quickly threw a marked kunai upward, through a gap in the stones.

Zip.

He teleported to the surface.

He scanned the area. He sensed chakra signatures retreating into the forest.

Kiyohara. Rin. Kakashi.

'It seems the Kunai I gave Kakashi was lost in the collapse,' Minato deduced instantly. 'They escaped, but they're being hunted.'

He sprinted into the trees.

The Forest Clearing.

"Wow. I didn't expect you brats to kill Kakkō and Taiseki."

Sumashi, the commander of the Iwagakure reinforcement squad, stepped into the clearing. He was a large man with a thick stone gauntlet on his arm.

Behind him stood a dozen Iwa-nin.

"Sneaking behind enemy lines is impressive. But killing my men? That's unforgivable."

Sumashi's gaze locked onto Kiyohara.

"According to the reports, there's a Sensor Type interfering with our patrols. That would be you, kid."

Sumashi cracked his knuckles.

If the bridge fell, his head would be on the chopping block back in the Stone Village. He had to end this now.

"I won't let you pass!"

Kakashi forced himself to stand. He squeezed his chakra coils, wringing out energy from every cell in his body.

Crackle.

Blue lightning sparked in his hand.

It flickered. Then it died.

"I can't... maintain it?"

Kakashi stared at his hand in horror. His face was deathly pale.

Ever since the transplant, he felt like a bucket with a hole in the bottom.

The Sharingan was active 24/7. Because he wasn't an Uchiha, he couldn't deactivate it. It was constantly draining his reserves.

"Kakashi..." Rin watched him with worry.

Was Obito's gift a blessing or a curse?

"Let me take over!"

Genma stepped up. He spat the senbon from his mouth.

Ninja Art: Senbon Rain!

A cloud of needles shot toward Sumashi.

"Pathetic."

Sumashi slammed his hand onto the ground.

"Earth Release: Stone Stealing Rod!"

A massive pillar of rock erupted from the earth, deflecting the needles effortlessly.

Sumashi didn't stop. He lunged forward, his stone-encased fist aiming for Genma's head.

BANG!

Genma tried to block, but the force was overwhelming. He was sent flying backward, crashing into a tree.

"Genma!"

Kurenai gasped. She started forming seals for a Genjutsu.

"Kurenai! Stop!"

Kiyohara grabbed her wrist. "Don't be rash."

"His mastery of Earth Release is too high," Kiyohara warned, his eyes tracking Sumashi. "He's a Tokubetsu Jonin (Special Jonin)."

A Jonin is a "Hexagon Warrior"—someone with no weaknesses, elite in Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu.

A Tokubetsu Jonin is a specialist. They might lack overall balance, but in their specific field (like Earth Release or Interrogation), they are Jonin-level.

Sumashi was a tank. Charging him head-on was suicide.

"But..." Kurenai looked at the dozen enemies surrounding them. "We're cornered."

"Don't worry," Kiyohara said calmly. He popped a Food Pill into his mouth.

The bitter taste of the soldier pill flooded his system, restoring a fraction of his stamina.

"Future Me," Kiyohara whispered internally. "It's showtime. Let them witness the power of a veteran."

"It's been a while since I stretched my legs," the Missing-nin chuckled darkly.

Until now, the spirit had only possessed him for brief, utilitarian moments—making drugs, scouting, or stabbing a blind man.

Now? It was time for war.

The atmosphere around Kiyohara changed instantly.

His posture shifted. His shoulders relaxed, but his center of gravity dropped.

The fear and hesitation of a Genin vanished from his eyes, replaced by the cold, bored stare of a man who had killed hundreds.

He cracked his neck.

Click.

He looked at Sumashi and the squad of Iwa-nin.

A cruel, confident smile curled his lips.

"Alright," the ghost piloting Kiyohara's body said. "Who wants to die first?"
