Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: “Aba Aba”

The three of them trudged out of the student council room in a dispirited line—well, two of them trudged. 永恒流星 was still seated on that wheelchair.

The moment the door shut behind them—cutting off the room's line of sight—the trio immediately snapped back to normal.

"Thank goodness you were there, Meteor," 黄金船 said, still shaken, patting her own chest. "If you hadn't been explaining nonstop, my credits would've waved goodbye."

"Right, right," 西崎龙 chimed in, nodding so hard it looked like his neck was on a hinge. Compared to the punishments he'd imagined on the way over, just getting scolded was basically a miracle ending.

"Enough," Meteor said, waving them off. "And I wasn't even lying. The wheelchair was built because I asked for it. Nishizaki, you only got dragged in because I baited you."

Thinking about shopping plans, Meteor pulled out her phone and checked the time. She wanted to finish buying everything before lunch.

"If there's nothing else, I'm heading out."

"Wait." Gold Ship reached out and clamped a hand on Meteor's shoulder, stopping the wheelchair just as it started to accelerate.

"Come with me to Spica's storage room first."

"…Why?"

"To pick up the charger for your wheelchair."

So the two of them detoured to the training area, retrieved the charger, then hurried back to the dorm to install it.

Nishizaki still didn't trust those two alone together—but he had other work. Every girl on his roster had upcoming race data that needed organizing, and that kind of paperwork didn't forgive procrastination.

All he could do was warn Gold Ship one more time.

And, to be fair… when Gold Ship was doing something serious, she usually didn't go off the rails.

Meteor sped down the road toward the supermarket, her expression darkening by the second.

By the time she reached the entrance, she finally snapped.

She turned the wheelchair around.

And stared at Gold Ship—standing on the sidewalk, holding two random branches in front of her face like it was some sort of sacred stealth technique.

"…What are you doing?" Meteor asked, voice flat.

Gold Ship followed Meteor's gaze… then looked behind herself, as if Meteor must be talking to someone else.

She genuinely appeared to believe it was impossible she'd been detected.

No way.

Does she think she's some special-ops legend?

Just because you crouch-walk while holding twigs, even with zero cover, you're suddenly invisible?

Meteor's forehead practically sprouted a giant # symbol.

Honestly—if you're going to commit to this nonsense, at least get a cardboard box.

Two pathetic branches that barely cover your face… was she trying to insult Meteor's intelligence?

Meteor locked eyes with her.

Gold Ship, under that stare, glanced down at the branches in her hands, brows knitting. Then she crab-walked two steps sideways—sideways—and checked again.

Meteor was still staring.

Gold Ship's eyes widened in shock.

"Wait… are you talking to me?!"

She pointed at her own chest, voice full of disbelief, as if she'd just been told gravity was optional.

"Who else?" Meteor said. "A ghost?"

"Impossible!" Gold Ship gasped, scandalized. "How did you pierce my flawless disguise?! Are my priceless stealth items… ineffective against you?!"

Meteor stared at her.

For a moment, she couldn't even form words.

She had the overwhelming urge to cover her face and roll away, pretending she'd never met this person in her life.

But letting her follow like this was also not an option.

So Meteor took a breath—slow, controlled, the kind you take before talking to a toddler who just swallowed a coin.

"Fine. Then tell me this," she said. "Why aren't you training? Why are you following me?"

Gold Ship, seeing Meteor refuse to play along with the cringe theatrics, sighed dramatically and—looking disappointed—switched off the recording function on her phone.

"I don't know why," she admitted, "but Rudolf specifically told me you're not allowed to be alone."

Meteor's expression froze for half a beat.

"…She told you that."

"Yup."

Meteor looked at the branches again.

Then at Gold Ship's face.

Then at the bright, open street around them.

And finally, she let out a long, silent exhale—the kind that says:

I'm surrounded by lunatics… and now they've coordinated.
