With the way everyone was looking at me, you would think I'd grown an elephant trunk overnight.
Now I almost wish I had, though. At least I could swipe them all in the face with it and tell them to mind their own business.
The conference room felt smaller than usual.
I sat to Finnegan's right with my tablet open, taking notes like the perfect executive assistant I was.
But I could feel the weight of dozens of eyes burning into me from around the long table. Some were curious, some were shocked, and some looked like I'd pissed in their coffee.
This morning had been even worse. When Finnegan and I walked into the building together — I knew he'd said he wasn't going to hide us anymore, but I didn't know that meant kissing my knuckles as he helped me out of the car in front of the entire building.
