I'm paralyzed—
can't move an inch.
Wide-eyed,
I stare ahead—
the end
of my dark
and lonely tunnel.
I wished for this day
for so long,
but now that it's here,
I can only cry.
Wandering,
wandering—
for so, so long—
only for it to end.
I look back—
the tunnel walls
slick with mold
and grease.
I look up again:
a warm embrace
waits for me
at the end.
Yet still,
I look back.
I can't help it—
I take a step back,
then another.
But a cold wind rises,
like unseen hands
guiding me forward,
pushing me
toward the clouds.
I fight.
I yell—
I DON'T WANT TO!
NOT AFTER ALL THIS,
NOT NOW,
NOT EVER!
But it won't stop.
It keeps blowing,
pushing—
and for a moment,
I forget
what I'm leaving behind.
I'm pushed in—
light wraps around me.
"It's okay…
You're with me now,
in my warm embrace."
