"At that time, the monsters couldn't leave the black mist," Suzy said. "When someone went inside, they were killed by the monsters, but back then, the creatures were still incapable of stepping out of the mist and entering the real world."
Furthermore, back then, each mist barrier seemed to hold only a single monster at a time.
Suzy hadn't expected that in such a short span of time, the monsters would gain the ability to break free from the black mist—and emerge in numbers greater than one.
The situation was spiraling into pure disaster.
No one knew how many of those creatures existed. If they were to pour into the human realm all at once... Suzy hardly dared to imagine the catastrophic body count that would follow. Humanity's demise would be a hundred times more gruesome than in any of the previous natural disasters.
