The instant her hand was slapped away, Suzy froze in place.
She lowered her gaze to look at her dropped hand, then raised her eyes back toward Adam.
His face was flushed a faint crimson, his breathing uneven, and a thin sheen of sweat beaded on his forehead—yet he turned his head away, avoiding her eyes.
"You..." Suzy opened her mouth. "You don't want to leave?"
Suzy had assumed that after explaining so much and letting him witness all of this, Adam would choose to leave with her.
That woman Rina had been desperate enough to drug him, and he clearly knew it—yet he still refused her!
An indescribable bitterness spread through her chest. Suzy let out a soft, low breath.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Adam didn't answer her right away, though his fingers tightened slightly into a fist.
"Or is it... that you just don't want me touching you?" Suzy pressed further.
The mere thought of being repulsed by Adam left a thoroughly unpleasant taste in her mouth.
