Chapter 23 - CHAPTER -23

"Are you being sarcastic?" he asked, arching an eyebrow at me.

"Chacha! No, sir! Not at all. Me? Sarcastic? I don't even know how to do that, sir," I replied, blinking my eyes innocently at Jai.

"Oh, really? Then why are you swaying back and forth in broad daylight like you've just downed two full bottles?" he questioned.

"Oh my god! Sir, what are you even saying? Me, drinking? Oh lord Rama ! I don't have such habits at all. The reason I'm walking like this is..." I gestured toward my feet with my eyes. "These slippers, sir. They are high heels and I'm not used to them. My daily-wear slippers snapped unexpectedly, so I had no choice but to wear these today."

He raised an eyebrow, scanning my face to see if I was telling the truth or spinning a tall tale.

"It's true, sir. Pinky promise!" I said, putting on my best act of innocence.

"Fine, I believe you. Let's go," he said, grabbing my hand and leading me toward the main entrance.

Without even realizing it, I found myself staring at him.

"I know I'm handsome. I don't think you need to stare so specifically," he said with a side-smile and a flick of his eyes.

That snapped me back to reality instantly. Good grief, Hasini! What is wrong with you? Why are you staring at this monster without even blinking? My soul was screaming at me: Hasini, don't look at him! Don't look!

Yes, I won't look. Why would I even look at this psycho? I won't, I told myself in my mind.

"If your internal monologue is over, shall we go inside?" he said, tightening his grip on my hand.

My heart started racing all over again. Dear Lord, is he a human or a robot? He's even reading my mind now! I need to be extremely careful with this psycho; otherwise, he looks like the type who could count the intestines in my body just by watching me yawn.

As I looked up at him, the "great man" was staring back at me sternly. I immediately dropped my head, looking everywhere but at him, unable to withstand his burning gaze.
