Chapter 6 - 005

Kane's POV:

My gaze narrowed down to my pack council, everyone staring quietly at me as if they had nothing to say.

"Alpha Kane, everyone in the pack is worried. You haven't presented your heir to the pack," the oldest elder of the council spoke up.

The meeting room was silent at his words, no one contributing to what he just said.

"They want me to present my heir? How many of them?" My voice echoed calmly.

"Alpha Kane, you are the oldest and strongest Alpha, making our pack the most feared, but you need an heir who would carry on this legacy of yours," each word was like a bell, ringing right into my ears, reminding me of how the moon goddess has chosen to abandon me.

Just the same way Calista abandoned me and disappeared without a trace.

"I would present my heir when the right time comes," I finally let out what I wanted to come as a surprise.

Since the breeder is close to giving me an heir, I believe this time I won't be disappointed by the moon goddess!

Seeing no one has something to say about presenting my heir, I carried on with the initial reason for this meeting.

"In our last meeting, we talked about finding the golden wolf, any success with that?" I asked, studying the expressions on the elders' faces.

No one talked. Everyone was staring at me like I was speaking a strange language.

"Any success?" I asked again, hoping this silence streak is broken.

"Alpha Kane, I am sorry, I couldn't find her. We have put up our spies in every pack to trace the golden wolf with its scent. They would find her, I assure you," the pack's gamma informed me, making me burst into laughter.

I climbed down from my throne and walked up to him. "Gamma Asher, are you trying to say you put up those useless spies of yours who can't even find my wife and son for the past twenty-eight years to look for the golden wolf?"

"Do you want us to wait for twenty-eight years again this time before you find the golden wolf?" I asked, holding back the urge to deep my claws into his throat and rip it apart.

How can he comfortably say he can't find the golden wolf, which is very important for us? For the success of our plan to destroy Mooncircle on their annual festival.

"Alpha Kane—"

"I am giving you only one month to find the golden wolf. If you don't, I would take it as going against me," I paused, staring right into his dirty blue eyes. "You know what that means, right?"

"Council of Reviwolf pack, I want all the necessary provisions for our plan to have ownership of Mooncircle's territory," with that, I walked out of the meeting hall.

If I hear more excuses, I might just rip them apart.

Bunch of incompetent cowards!

"Alpha Kane, the breeder—"

"You mean my son, my heir is here?" I quickly interrupted the breeder's personal maid who was soaked in sweat.

"About to, Alpha Kane," the maid's words made me hurry down to the breeder's quarter.

This time I want her to give birth under my roof, right under my nose… not the hospital who always threw female pups to my face.

If I could fly right now, I would gladly do so. This time, the scan confirmed she was carrying a male. A son.

Even if the others have been the same, the doctor assured me with his life on the line.

Each step I took closer to the breeder's quarter made my heart race hard.

If not for the fact that Calista and our son are nowhere to be found, I wouldn't have needed bedding a low worthless Omega.

But if she gives me a son, the son I had wanted all my life, I would make her my mistress.

"Is my son here?" I asked sharply the moment the midwife came out of her room, her hand stained with blood, the metallic smell hitting me hard.

"Alpha, the baby isn't coming out, and I am afraid she might die if we don't seek out the help of professional doctors. Maybe a CS would help," her words made me chuckle.

It sounded like a joke to my ears.

That pup inside the breeder's stomach is really a male. Only a son takes this harder to be pushed out. A true alpha bloodline.

"I don't care if she dies. Her duty is to bring my son to life," I muttered calmly. "Now go back to what you were doing!"

She quickly rushed in without arguing.

I waited outside for almost three hours, the cloud already gathering, the moon setting to come out, but there is yet the news of my son.

Unable to stand the wait, I walked closer, about to enter, but the presence of the midwife who just walked out made me halt.

"My son has arrived in this world, right?"

"I am sorry Alpha Kane, she is a daughter. A beautiful—"

"Anyone there!" I shouted, making my personal guards rush forward from the corner they stood. "Take this midwife and behead her and every member of her family."

"You see that bastard in there, kill her and her useless breeder of a mother! And that doctor who deceived me into believing I am expecting a son," I paused, trying not to explode from the anger burning through me. "Find him and everyone related to him, don't spare even an ant in his house!"

I have expected this as more than ten useless females have given me nothing but female pups, but I thought this was different.

The doctor made me believe so. That worthless breeder made me believe so!

Unable to stand here and ponder on the thought of having another female again, I head back to my personal room where I always try to calm my head.

"Alpha Kane, it is a son this time right?" My Beta, who has always been a close friend of mine, the only person aside Calista who would never go wrong in my eyes, asked with a smile on his face as if he already knew what happened.

"I got a useless female! I got a female again! Why on earth is the moon goddess doing this to me?" I vented out.

As an Alpha, the strongest Alpha alive, I am never supposed to have female pups in my bloodline.

I want an heir, not princesses!

"Calm down, Kane," my Beta's hands reached for my shoulder, helping me calm down a bit. "I think you can really have an heir. There is a way out."

"There is no way out aside from finding Calista and our son."

"The golden wolf is the key," his words made my eyes open wide. "If you find her and make her your breeder, she would bore you not just a son but sons. Two Alphas who made the golden wolf their breeders got twin sons."

"Then why the wait?" I asked, feeling like all my frustration has suddenly disappeared. "Gather every last of our strongest males and find the golden wolf. Comb every part of the world if you must."

That is how desperate I am in need of a son… one to carry on my legacy.
