Chapter 77 - Chapter 77 - The arrival of the Elders

The sleek, modern buildings of the Red Moon Pack mansion gleamed under the early morning sun, but shadows seemed to gather along the edges. Today, the house would see a storm of power, authority, and unspoken tension.

From the black stretch limousines stepped two figures whose presence alone made the air heavy: Lucifer Smith, Ryan's father, and Veronica Smith, his mother. Every step they took radiated dominance; every glance sent shivers through anyone standing nearby.

Ryan met them at the entrance, his aura flaring just slightly, Ralph, Blade, and Venom stirring within him, a subtle warning that Hazel was under his protection.

"Father… Mother," Ryan said, bowing slightly but holding his head high, his voice edged with command. "I presume you've heard of recent events."

Lucifer's dark eyes flicked toward Hazel. His gaze was sharp, scanning her aura as if he could strip away her very essence. "I have," he said, voice smooth, calm—but laced with suspicion. "And I intend to see for myself if this… girl… is truly as important as you claim."

Hazel's heart pounded. She had faced rogues, attacks, and even Mila's subtle manipulations, but Lucifer Smith radiated an intensity unlike anything she had ever felt. Every hair on her body bristled.

Veronica's eyes softened as she stepped closer. "Hazel, dear, we've heard much about you," she said kindly, her tone a balm. "Ryan has been insistent on your protection. I wish to understand why."

Hazel drew a steadying breath. She glanced at Ryan, who placed a hand lightly on her shoulder, the heat of his presence grounding her.

"You are here because Hazel is no ordinary being," Ryan began, his voice cutting through the tension. "She's been training as Luna, mastering the Devourer, and learning to lead the pack. Her power, her judgment, and her loyalty surpass that of many seasoned warriors."

Lucifer's gaze darkened, his aura pressing like a tangible weight. "Power is meaningless without control," he said, low and dangerous. "I will investigate."

Hazel squared her shoulders, though a shiver ran through her. She could feel the scrutiny of the Alpha who had claimed the most dangerous power in the world, and yet, she did not falter.

As the discussion continued, Mila lingered near the edge of the room, her eyes calculating. Every controlled movement Hazel made, every small display of strength or composure, was noted. Mila's plan was simple: plant doubt in Lucifer's mind and ensure Hazel would never gain full acceptance.

Hazel sensed a faint stir of hostility, but it did not shake her. She glanced at Ryan, who gave a subtle nod. He will protect me. No matter what.

By evening, the tension in the mansion had thickened. Veronica, impressed by Hazel's poise, her Luna aura, and subtle Devourer energy, softened and offered warmth. "You carry great strength, Hazel," she said gently. "And you wield it wisely."

Lucifer, however, remained distant, his dark eyes almost piercing into Hazel's very soul. But in the corners of his mind, curiosity and suspicion mingled. He could sense the unique energy around her, something tied not just to the Devourer, but to an ancient lineage.

Later, alone in his chambers, Lucifer touched the edge of Hazel's aura, probing subtly with his powers. What he uncovered made his breath catch: Hazel McCall was connected to the Eclipse Heir prophecy in the Book of the Damned. A being born of all sides—human, wolf, vampire—mated to a descendant of the Eclipse line.

A chill ran through him. This child—this Luna—was the one foretold centuries ago. And Ryan had already claimed her.

From the shadows, Mila smiled faintly, unseen by Hazel or Ryan. She had planted enough seeds of doubt in Lucifer's mind to make him question Hazel's worth, even if the truth screamed otherwise.

Ryan's hand brushed Hazel's as he murmured in her ear, low and possessive: "No matter what, Hazel… you're mine. Always."

Hazel's pulse quickened, her Devourer energy flaring, a subtle warning to anyone daring to challenge her. Even Lucifer would have to tread carefully.

And in that moment, the balance of power shifted, the Red Moon Pack standing more formidable than ever, and Hazel's place—by Ryan's side—was absolute.
