Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 - Mercy and claim

The hospital corridor was quiet.

White walls.

Soft medical lighting.

Boyd Malone lay on the hospital bed, breathing slowly.

The stroke had weakened him.

Not killed him.

But changed him.

Hazel stood beside the bed silently.

Ryan stood behind her.

Watching.

Waiting.

Hazel spoke first.

"Ryan…"

"Yes."

She did not turn around.

Her voice was soft.

"Please heal him."

Silence.

Ryan did not answer immediately.

Hazel continued quietly.

"He doesn't deserve this stroke because of what his son did."

Pause.

Then she added:

"Kyle is cruel, but Boyd is not."

Long silence followed.

Ryan spoke finally.

"I can accelerate recovery."

Hazel turned slightly.

"Please."

Ryan stepped closer.

Placed two fingers lightly near Boyd's chest.

Dark healing energy moved slowly.

Not dramatic.

Not violent.

Controlled demon-wolf regenerative energy.

Boyd's breathing became slightly smoother.

Not fully healed.

But stabilized.

Hazel whispered:

"Thank you."

Ryan nodded once.

"That is all I can do without breaking natural recovery balance."

Hazel understood.

She respected that.

They left the hospital room quietly.

Outside—

Kyle's mother was standing near the corridor.

She saw Hazel.

And froze.

Because Hazel was not the same girl she once knew.

Hazel's posture was straight.

Eyes confident.

Aura calm but powerful.

Radiant.

Beautiful in a different way.

Kyle's mother whispered:

"You… changed."

Hazel answered calmly:

"I am learning who I am."

The woman said nothing else.

They walked toward the parking area.

The GLE luxury car was waiting.

Black.

Elegant.

Extremely expensive.

Ryan opened the passenger door for her.

Then—

A group of girls noticed Ryan walking.

And they started whispering excitedly.

Because Ryan was extremely handsome.

Tall.

Dark aura.

Dangerous elegance.

Some girls moved closer slightly.

Curiosity.

Admiration.

Hazel felt something inside her chest move.

She did not know what it was.

Instinct?

Possession?

Mate bond reaction?

She suddenly said loudly without thinking:

"He is mine."

The words surprised even herself.

Ryan paused.

Looked at her.

Hazel's cheeks flushed slightly.

"I— I mean—"

Ryan did something unexpected.

He walked closer.

Bent slightly.

And pecked her cheek softly.

Not possessive.

Not aggressive.

Just confirmation.

The girls around gasped softly.

Ryan said quietly:

"Yes."

Hazel felt her heart beat faster.

She sat inside the GLE car.

Hands slightly tight on her lap.

She did not know what had happened to her.

But one thing was clear.

She did not want anyone else looking at him like that.

And that frightened her.

Because she was starting to understand what mate bond emotions meant.
