Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 - Red Moon Territory

The car moved silently along the wide illuminated road.

City lights stretched across the horizon like scattered stars.

Hazel sat by the window, arms folded tightly across her chest.

She did not ask where they were going.

She did not speak to Ryan since he entered the car.

Ryan sat beside her, perfectly still.

Controlled.

Observing.

The driver was one of the Red Moon Pack warriors, but he said nothing.

The vehicle passed through a massive stone archway.

Hazel noticed it immediately.

Runes were carved into the structure.

Subtle.

Powerful.

Protection magic.

Then she saw the sign engraved above the entrance.

RED MOON PACK TERRITORY

The environment changed instantly.

The road became smoother.

Buildings appeared.

Not huts.

Not wilderness.

Modern buildings.

Elegant houses with glass balconies.

Street lamps lined the roads.

Several luxury cars were parked neatly near residential mansions.

People walked casually along the sidewalks.

Some were human.

Some were supernatural.

All lived inside the pack territory.

Hazel blinked slowly.

"This is a pack?" she asked quietly.

"Yes," Ryan replied.

Her voice carried mild surprise.

"It looks like a city."

"It is."

The car stopped in front of a large mansion.

Not excessively decorated.

But powerful in presence.

Modern black and silver architecture.

Glass windows reflecting moonlight.

Hazel stepped out slowly.

The air here felt different.

Safer.

Stronger.

Like the territory itself was alive.

Several pack members stood nearby.

They bowed slightly when Ryan walked past.

Some looked at Hazel with curiosity.

Others with cautious respect.

Hazel noticed everything.

Ryan opened the mansion door.

"Inside," he said quietly.

Hazel did not move immediately.

"You own all this?" she asked.

"Yes."

"Everything?"

"Yes."

Silence.

Hazel followed him inside.

The interior was modern luxury.

White and silver theme.

Large living space.

Minimalist but expensive design.

No medieval supernatural decorations.

This was a powerful pack that had adapted to the modern world.

Ryan removed his jacket slowly.

His injuries from the hunter fight were mostly healed now.

Hazel stood near the center of the room.

She felt eyes on her even though no one else was inside.

"The pack is watching me," she said.

"Yes," Ryan replied calmly.

"Why?"

"Because you are important."

Hazel crossed her arms.

"I don't like that answer."

Ryan did not argue.

Silence stretched.

Then he said quietly:

"This is your temporary residence."

Hazel frowned.

"I didn't agree to move here."

"You didn't have to."

Her eyes flashed slightly.

"You are making decisions for me again."

Ryan's voice lowered.

"I am keeping you alive."

Hazel turned slightly away.

The mark on her wrist pulsed faintly.

The mate bond reaction was getting stronger.

She hated that.

After a moment Ryan spoke again.

"You can move freely inside the territory."

"But?"

"You are not allowed outside the border alone."

Hazel scoffed.

"Prison."

"Protection."

Hazel didn't respond.

Ryan added quietly:

"The Red Moon Pack respects strength."

"Do they respect me?"

"They will."

Silence.

Then Hazel said:

"I still don't trust you."

Ryan nodded.

"I know."

She turned slightly toward him.

"Why did you bring me here?"

Ryan answered honestly.

"Because the Devourer is getting closer."

Hazel's heart tightened slightly.

"And?"

"And you are safer inside my territory."

Hazel stared at him.

Then whispered:

"I hate that I agree with you."

Ryan did not smile.

But something in his eyes softened very slightly.

Venom stirred.

Blade watched quietly.

Ralph remained alert.

Outside, the modern city-like pack territory glowed under moonlight.

And inside the mansion—

Two souls stood far apart.

Bound.

But still refusing to touch.
