Chapter 36 - Ax-Throwing

Joey and Scarlett were meeting up after classes to go to the movies. A quite, simple, cute little date. It was rather fitting for both of them. As for me; well I was still working on asking Barrett out, for the obvious reasons.

For one, I had never asked him out on a date before. Secondly, I wanted to do something far away where I was unlikely to run into anyone I knew. And thirdly, it's Barrett. Where the hell do I even invite him to?

I ended up deciding to try ax-throwing. I had never done that, and throwing stuff seemed up his alley. He certainly threw me around plenty. I grabbed my phone during one of my classes and texted him.

"Master? I was wondering, would you like to hang out with me? Like on a real date? I was thinking we could maybe go ax-throwing after classes..."

He didn't respond for the rest of class which had me feeling on edge. How dare he not immediately rush to say yes! Like he could possibly be doing anything more important! I focused on the lecture of the day though and it helped that we had a group session at one point so that kept me distracted.

Once class was over I felt my phone vibrate and looked down to see his response. "Yea, send me the address." Ugh, he had to be so whatever about it. Honestly it wouldn't kill him to leap with excitement, but whatever.

I sent him the address and the time. He replied with a thumbs up. Whatever at least we had a date I guess. After class I went back to my dorm and looked through my clothes to find something appropriate for ax throwing. What does a person even wear for that? Flannel and a cowboy hat?

I ended up wearing a black high neck halter tank top. It's sleek, sleeveless, cute, and sexy. I matched it with black leggings, as I figured that would be appropriate for a physical date like ax-throwing. I really hope I don't look like an idiot today.

I Ubered to the address and hung out by the front of the building. Luckily I wasn't waiting long before Barrett showed up. He was wearing jeans with a buttoned up red flannel shirt, as well as a necklace and a watch on his left wrist.

Huh, I think this is the closet I've seen Barrett to dressing up. Granted most of our encountered involved clothes getting ripped off and as such we tended to wear easy to remove clothing around each other.

He walked right up to me and cupped my chin, before kissing me deeply. I placed my hands on his chest, caught a little off guard by his bold approach. "You look as beautiful as ever" he said once he let me go.

"Oh! Um, well you look rather handsome yourself" I replied somewhat awkwardly. I wasn't expecting him to take to the date idea so easily. I tucked my hair behind my ear, and could feel my cheeks burning up a little.

"So what's the occasion? I doubt you simply want to get fucked while ax-throwing" he chuckled and I rolled my eyes. Straightening up and putting my hands on my hips. "No, Joey is going out on dates with Scarlett. We're thinking of having him date both of us, but he wants to take things somewhat slow."

Barrett scratched his chin, "ok well the first part is surprising but the second part isn't." Yea, that was an accurate assessment. "So, anyways, I thought maybe we could also go out in a date. No sex or anything, just like a nice normal time." I finished explaining.

Barrett looked me up and down, his face was expressionless which was a little frustrating. "So your boyfriend is busy with another girl, and I'm the stand in for the day?" He chuckled at his own humor, while I rolled my eyes.

Before I could respond he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me in close. "Fine, I'll play boyfriend for today. It might be cute to see you publicly swooning for me." I pushed my hands against him and scoffed, already regretting this "whatever. I'm only doing this because Joey thought it might be a good idea."

Barrett let me go, his head tilting slightly to one side. I scratched the back of my head and sighed "well it seems getting to know you better might maybe be somewhat of a good idea. Since you know, we've literally been fucking around and all that."

Something seemed to shift in Barrett's eyes though I couldn't quite tell what it was. He stood up a little straighter, like suddenly he was taking this all a little more seriously. "Well then" he held out his hand, offering it to me freely "let's get to know each other a little better, shall we?"

Huh, maybe Scarlett had been onto something after all. I took his hand and he led me in. We walked up to the counter and he paid for us to get setup. The employee walked us over and explained how things worked. Barrett ordered himself a beer, and got me a cosmo which was actually pretty good.

Barrett went up first, throwing an ax and stabbing it into the target, though he missed the bullseye. The ax made a loud thump sound when it hit the board. "Not a bad first try don't ya think?" He flexed and winked at me. I rolled my eyes and walked over, with an ax in hand.

I threw it and it hit the board even harder, and closer to the bullseye. "Well ain't that sexy" Barrett mused as I flipped my hair back. "Try to keep up babe" I teased with a wink back. Barrett was grinning as he grabbed another ax and made his next throw. Getting closer to the bullseye.

I had no intentions of losing this match and so focused heavily on my form. Making sure my arm was leveled correctly, my grip tight yet able to let loose the ax at just the right time. Getting more and more familiar with the balance of the ax.

Barrett seemed determined to win as well though and had me on my toes trying to beat him. We both got closer and closer to the bullseye until eventually every throw landed right on target. It was hit after hit after hit. A constant drumming of axes against the board as people watched us.

I could feel their eyes on us, I could hear them whispering and talking about it. Even one of the employees seemed to be impressed with our performance. After every throw I would make sure to make some sort of verbal jab at Barrett, which he returned in kind after every throw.

"I think your ax is rigged" Barrett mused at one point. "I mean let's face it sexy, you never throw that good."

I shrugged as I landed another bullseye "it's easy honestly. I just started envisioning your head up there and suddenly I'm right on target." He laughed at my joke, which helped me feel a bit at ease.

"You just can't ever lose anything can you?" Barrett pointed out at one point when we took a break. Honestly my arm was getting a bit tired, but I'll be damned if I stop before he does!

"Losing is not in my nature" I replied casually, taking a sip of my cosmo. Barrett leaned in and chuckled "oh I know. It's always a bit of a competition with you. Always gotta be so aggressive, so demanding, so..."

He paused, seeming to be a little caught off guard by his own words. "Ha, well anyways. How are you enjoying the date?"

I tiled my head to the side and tapped my drink "no, no. Keep going. What were you going to say?" I pressed him.

Barrett sighed, though he was smiling. "You are a more vicious woman than you take credit for. I was going to say, you always gotta be so enticing. Let's be honest here sexy. You know anybody and everybody would take the opportunity to chase you."

I smiled at his compliment and motioned with my finger for him to keep going. "Personally though, I just wanted to use you. To break you. But you are a fighter. You push back and challenge people. Even in bed, you take as much you can. Maybe if people realized you aren't just some bright eyed pretty dame they wouldn't chase you as much. If they understood how intimidating you can be."

I sat back in my chair, I wasn't expecting such forwardness from Barrett. "I thought Joey realized he was with the hottest girl on campus and counting his blessings. But I quickly realized that wasn't the full truth. He loves that fire in you. That fire that would burn most souls. It keeps him warm. Me? I find myself admiring it, feeling it's bite, tempting it's sting."

Barrett took another drink of his beer, pausing for a moment before saying "but every fire needs to be tended to. Or else it'll eventually burn out. Joey does his part pretty good in that regard." His voice softened at the end, like he was lamenting something.

Did he think he did a bad job? I opened my mouth, the words coming out before my mind could process them. "So do you." Barrett looked up at me, clearly caught off guard. "You keep me on my toes, you match my aggression, you even manage to dominate me in a way I quite enjoy. Even spending time with Joey has become more enjoyable. I spend all day thinking of him... and you..."

Barrett leaned back on his chair and chuckled "you sure you don't just want to get fucked?" He joked, his seriousness seeming to disappear once again. I rolled my eyes, but this time I kept smiling. "Maybe try actually beating me this time" I stood up and grabbed another ax.

"Whatever you say sexy" Barrett mused as he stood by me and grabbed his ax. We ended up spending a lot longer at the ax-throwing place than I thought we would. And it turned out to be a lot more fun than I was expecting.

The date overall went better than expected. Turns out Barrett can be more than just a brute. Or maybe he was just the kind of brute that I don't mind keeping around me more often. We'll see, it's not like I'm ready to leap into his arms just yet. But, I'll keep leaping into his bed for now and we'll see what ends up happening.

I was really excited at the thought of going back to the dorm and telling Joey all about my date with Barrett. Huh, that's a weird feeling. I wonder if that's how Joey was feeling while hanging out with Scarlett?

Life sure is strange, and oh so kinky.
