Chapter 3 - White Spire.

It was a large black gate with ethereal designs. And in front of the large black gate, stood three guards in white armour with spears patrolling the Area.

The guards fixed their gazes on him and scanned him with an indifferent expression.

"Who are you? And state your purpose!" one of the guards asked, striking the bottom of his spear against the ground.

"Sorry." Amon said, in a hurried tone, "My name is Amon, I'm seventeen years old, and I have come here to Awaken."

The guard, hearing that, opened the gates and let Amon in. "I hope you awaken something good!" The guard said.

As Amon walked, he turned back at the guard and smiled at him.

Green grass was everywhere, separated by stone pathways and little iron fences. People chattered about, speaking of their awakening ceremony, what ability they might awaken and what ability they awakened. Families gathered everywhere. Families of ancestral lineages that whispered of the first times. Powerful people gathered here in their armour, all here for their own purposes.

Amon walked past all of them, not sparing a single glance. He walked on his pathway, going up a little staircase before opening the Gigantic golden door that gave entrance to the White spire.

Inside the white spire was nothing but a white room. An interior that did not suit quite well with the exterior. A simple white room with no boundaries, no sky, no walls, just a white endless space.

Amon was shocked to his core. His eyes widened, and his jaw dropped slightly. There isn't a single soul here. No construct, no chandlers, no candles, no awakening crystals, nothing at all except this white void, Amon thought.

Just then, a being appeared.

He had long white hair and calm brown eyes. Standing a little over six feet tall. He was still noticeably shorter than Amon, who towered at six feet nine. His appearance was striking, refined, and almost unreal, and he was dressed in an immaculate white suit. In his left hand, he held a slender cane, resting it lightly against the ground.

"Well, look at what I have here" The being said as he waved his hand at Amon with a smile on his face.

"Huh!" Amon exclaimed, "Who are you?"

"I am Val Erith, son of the Erith family, and head of awakeners."

"So, you are in charge of my awakening?" Amon asked.

"Yes, I am." Val Erith said.

A moment of silence passed between them; Val stared back at Amon, and Amon stared back at Val. No words were spoken, no expressions were made, only the silence continued.

"Alright, let us begin your awakening," Val spoke, breaking the silence.

"But before that, do you even know what an awakening is?" Val asked.

"Yes, is it not about transcending mortal limits, getting a system, choosing a path, an Order, and fighting corruptions?" Amon asked a rhetorical question.

"Yes, but do you know the origin of how awakeners exist, why they exist, and the source of all this corruption, and why outer realities are seeping into our own?" Val asked in a firm, low, and grave tone.

Amon silenced himself for a bit, realising that he had been ignorant, he reverently lowered his head. He had thought it was all about fighting, obtaining paths, and getting into Orders, at least that's what his parents had told him.

"If what I have said is not true, please enlighten me!" Amon spoke.

"All of this is because of the Great Convergence."

"The gate that brought upon us all the disasters, the corruptions… and the power."

"What exactly are corruptions? Why do people get systems and choose paths, and get powers? What exactly are the disasters, and why did the Great Convergence bring corruption?" Amon asked.

"Mortal, your curiosity knows no bounds," Val spoke with a hint of amusement in his words.

"The disasters are the earthly conflicts. Joy, envy, curiosity, jealousy, happiness, sorrow, anger and many other emotions were elevated when the Great Convergence happened. The mysterious incident had caused everyone to fall, and to think the wrath of God had come upon us, which led to the elevation of our emotions, and our senses fuelled these emotions, which then made us lose a small part of our sanity." Val spoke.

"So, this is because of the Great Convergence?" Amon asked.

"Yes, our emotions became our source of power and became what we know as Alter Egos," Val replied

"Alter Egos?" Amon asked in a confused manner.

"Yes, Alter Egos are the personifications or the vessel, or manifestation, or the emotions themselves given form," Val responded.

"And what about the corruptions?" Amon asked.

"Corruptions are the entities of other realities. They are beings, born with different souls, different classifications of existences, different origins and physiques, different paths, and they come from other worlds, other universes, other multiverses, timelines; they come from everywhere and are all brought by the Great Convergence. They are here to absorb this layer of existence."

"Note that these entities are monsters and they are more than just goblins, serpents, orcs, dragons, phenoxies and other mythical creatures. In fact, these mythical creatures are considered nothing more than pets or slaves to the corruptions, and nothing more but a device to control others, and conquer!"

Amon hearing this took a step back instinctively. He became a little scared upon hearing the information. So, the corruptions are just entities that want to absorb our layer, our world! But the layer is more than just worlds; they need to have absorbed our whole verse before absorbing our layer! And our world is only but a little fragment of the whole verse! How are we supposed to stop the corruptions then? Amon panicked.

Val seeing Amon's expression, smiled pitifully at Amon. The newcomers are always like this; they are always surprised upon hearing the truth and the fated doom of our world. Even If we are only but a tiny fragment in this verse, in this layer of existence, and we don't know much of other existences except for the corruptions, even though all of this is because of the Great convergence, we thank it for bringing us power! Val thought with a bit of anxiety but also a bit of assurance and madness.

"That's when the power comes in" Val spoke with a warm smile.

Amon hearing this paused his thoughts, questions, doubts and incomplete resolutions. He lifted his head up and looked Val in the eye as if telling him to continue, hoping for something that would calm his mind.

"The power is the collection of rewards, possibilities, imaginations, and fantasies giving to us by the Great convergence. It gave us the system that gives us rewards, assigns to us quests, gives knowledge and sings of wonders. It gave us powers; extraordinary talents, classes, physique, origins, and many abilities that help us fight against the corruptions. It gave us the Alter Egos who help us and fight for us, and they are bound to us eternally. It gave us the chance to transcend our limits and become gods; it gives us resources, time, and many other things to become beings above our limits and fight against the corruptions. It gave us Orders to find and unite ourselves to fight against the common enemy! And to help one another. But most of all, It gave us paths, it allowed us to choose our paths, choose our goals, our freedom."
