After dinner at the undersea restaurant, they took a short walk around the city center, surrounded by scenery so different from the country they came from.
Vero walked between them, holding the hands of the two adults on either side. Kaisar and Amara looked more like a married couple raising their child.
"Stop staring at me. Do you want this bag I'm carrying to fly into your face?" Amara glanced at Kaisar, who had clearly been looking at her for quite some time.
The man smiled faintly.
"I'm not the one imagining things, Doctor Diamond. The world I'm building right now… doesn't include marriage in it."
Kaisar fell silent, but he did not react with anger when Amara rejected him.
"Besides, you're not that bad. You're more than old enough. Haven't you ever liked another woman before?" Amara asked.
"I have… yes. That woman is you."
