Chapter 42 - CHAPTER FOURTY TWO

Yu Ziyou currently had a swollen forehead, and he was crying pitifully while clinging to Lin Zhile, complaining bitterly and humming in between his cries.

Xiao Baobao burst into laughter when he saw Lin Zhile's blank expression.

After the medical robot repaired Yu Ziyou's swollen forehead back to normal, Lin Zhile dragged him back towards Black Abyss.

Seeing that Black Abyss was pretending to be dead, Lin Zhile didn't blame it.

Black Abyss's soul was stronger than the three AI Guardians'. Unlike the three AI Guardians, whose consciousness depended on their power source, Black Abyss had none.

So, it mostly hibernated until it becomes stronger and was able to become fully conscious. Seeing Xiao Baobao poking Black Abyss like a toy, Lin Zhile stopped him before explaining why it wasn't answering.

Xiao Baobao's eyes lit up. To be honest, he had considered that possibility from the cultivation books Yu Weiwei had given them.

But there were also other possibilities, so he hadn't really considered it seriously.

Xiao Baobao thought for a moment.

Did he also have a soul like Black Abyss?

It was a question he would ask Yu Weiwei when he was awake.

Meanwhile, the comments section was busy trying to piece together what they were talking about.

[So you are telling me Black Abyss is alive, like a real living thing?]

[Is that even possible? That's an inanimate thing that depends on a power source to even be considered a living thing.]

[Hey, why not? The Silias race is made up of robots.]

[That's not entirely true. The Silias race are a bunch of tiny purple people who depend on robots to look bigger.]

[Upstairs, are you trying to start a war? Who doesn't know the Silias race hates it when people talk about their real bodies?]

[Hehe... My bad.]

[If we are talking about robots with consciousness, shouldn't it be the Aurex race?]

[Nah, that's different. Those are real robots, but they don't have the so-called souls they are talking about.]

The Silias race was located between the Empire and the Federation. The Silias were a tiny race, no bigger than an adult's fist.

Thousands of years ago, when humans migrated from Earth due to the destruction of the environment, mutations of animals, and the Hives, they came to their current territory.

This territory had eight moons, with each moon having planets orbiting around it. Each orbit was classified as a kingdom.

The Silias race, who originated from this territory, were also experiencing attacks from the Hives. But their fight was much harder because, compared to the Hives, they were like hamsters facing a tiger, while the human race was like a cat facing a tiger.

The human race settled here because the environment suited them. Even though the Hives were still there, it was better than a destroyed planet filled with mutated animals.

And besides, they wouldn't have to worry about overpopulation.

During the time they were there, the Empire helped the Silias race by giving them technology. Since then, the Silias had started using mecha suits for their everyday lives, making people almost forget what they actually looked like.

While the Aurex were robots created by humans, the Aurex were different from the three AI Guardians.

Unlike the AI Guardians, who were created to be above all citizens, had higher intelligence, and also had their own freedom, the Aurex robots were designed to help the citizens.

Most of the Aurex originated from creations of the human race. Because of the cruelty and changes in their environment, humans vented their emotions on these robots, showing them their darkest sides.

Due to that, they rebelled, though they eventually failed.

The Second Emperor of the Empire and members of the Federation back then exiled them instead of destroying them. The robots then moved to an orbit and created their own kingdom, calling themselves the Aurex.

"Then how long do you think it will take for it to regain consciousness completely?" Xiao Baobao asked Lin Zhile excitedly.

If Black Abyss regained consciousness, then he wouldn't be the last-born anymore.

He would have a younger brother!

"Probably in a hundred years." Lin Zhileused his spiritual power to scan Black Abyss before estimating.

Xiao Baobao's excitement was immediately doused with cold water, and his smile froze.

"Hundreds of years?!" Xiao Baobao's voice cracked in disbelief.

"Hmm, but Da... Uncle can do something about it." Lin Zhile commented, almost blurting out Dad.

He was able to have consciousness thanks to his grandfather, Lin Zhe. His father was much more powerful, so he should be able to make Black Abyss regain consciousness much faster.

The comments section, finally having to piece some things together because of the historians who had come into the livestream due to its popularity, exploded in astonishment.

Though most people were skeptical and didn't believe it.

[Are you guys kidding me? So you are telling me that a piece of metal that has been standing there for three thousand years came to life?!]

[Upstairs, what do you mean by a piece of metal?! If not for Black abyss and its master Xu Nianye, do you think majority of the human race would still be alive?!!]

[That's absurd, totally absurd! Black abyss probably moved because of the residual energy in it.]

[So you guys are believing what a three-year-old is saying?!]

[But... but Xiao Baobao said it too.]

Seeing this comment, the comments section became silent for a moment.

The AI Guardians were known for their inability to lie, though they were programmed to tell white lies in some settings. They wouldn't tell lies. It was common knowledge.

[Could it be joking? Like, maybe playing with the kid?...]

[...]

Xiao Baobao was relieved after knowing that Yu Weiwei could maybe fasten the time for black abyss consciousness.

Yu Weiwei did things that went beyond science. Perhaps it was possible.

"Then let's export him to the palace. He would be safe there." Xiao Baobao said before frowning.

He shouldn't have let the netizens find out about this kind of thing, but according to his calculations, this was the best way.

The Emperor wanted to bring cultivation back to the world so that they could prevent mental disorders. Black Abyss was bound to be introduced to the world one day.

And besides every AI Guardian created had to have its creation known to the world.

Though Black Abyss wasn't entirely considered an AI Guardian, its consciousness was also related to the AI created with it.

"No, you can't. Black Abyss is bound to this planet. Taking it away will reduce its chances of becoming conscious. It has already considered this planet its home." Lin Zhile shook his head in disagreement.

Xiao Baobao realised what Lin Zhile meant, recalling one of Yu Weiwei's cultivation books.

Black Abyss was a bit like Lin Zhile in this regard.

Lin Zhile is a planetary core. Taking him away from Sea Sky Planet meant having part of his power suppressed. Taking Black Abyss away from this planet would restrict its ability as well.

"Okay then. Then we just have to protect it until it regains consciousness fully."

"Oh, right. Why was it hostile to you?" Xiao Baobao asked Lin Zhile curiously.

"Huh?! You felt it?!" Lin Zhile asked, a little surprised that Xiao Baobao could feel emotions.

Then he became confused before realising that Xiao Baobao's soul was getting more condensed.

It had been very transparent before, like something that was on the borderline of existing.

Now that it had condensed, Xiao Baobao was unconsciously using his soul.

He probably didn't even realise it himself.

In fact, Xiao Baobao had felt it, but he didn't know what was going on and planned to ask Yu Weiwei about it.

"Why didn't you say anything then?" Lin Zhile asked.

"Well, I thought it was an error on my part." Xiao Baobao answered before muttering very quietly.

"Who would believe that an AI felt an emotion?"

Though Lin Zhile heard him, he merely glanced at him without commenting. He then explained why Black abyss was hostile to him.

"It probably sensed that I'm a planetary core."Lin Zhile said in a voice that only the two of them could hear.

Xiao Baobao looked a little confused when he heard this.

"An higher-level planetary core moving into a planet whose planetary core is lower-level means there's a high possibility that the higher-level one will devour the lower-level one." Lin Zhile continued explaining in a low voice.

"Though Black Abyss isn't a planetary core, it has been protecting this planet for ages and has come to regard it as its own."

Xiao Baobao finally realised what was going on.

Black Abyss probably intended to attack Xiao Bai, but it stopped because Xiao Bai's power was higher than its. Besides, Black Abyss really couldn't maintain its consciousness for long.

The comments section was still going on, reveling in the shocking revelation.

[So, it's true? Someone pinch me, I think I'm dreaming...]

[Damn! I thought those things only happened in fantasy?]
