Chapter 12 - CHAPTER TWELVE

Yu Weiwei listened quietly.

"What about Father Yu Chen?"

A helpless smile appeared on Elara's face.

"That fool..."

"He was already famous back then."

"The Empire's greatest battle maniac."

"He lived only for fighting."

"Then one day, I was being bullied because of my appearance, and Lin Zhe beat them black and blue."

"It caused quite a bit of trouble. Most of the bullies were nobles, and they demanded that Lin Zhe apologise and be expelled."

She sighed softly.

"At that time, Lin Zhe hadn't awakened his SS-rank mental power yet."

"Since he refused to apologise, the matter eventually reached Yu Chen."

"He came over, and Lin Zhe thought he was there to expel him."

Elara suddenly chuckled.

"Lin Zhe figured that if he was going to be expelled anyway, he might as well vent his anger first."

"So..."

"He beat Yu Chen up."

"Yu Chen couldn't fight back because Lin Zhe wasn't using mental power, and he was still underage."

"Then..."

"He fell in love."

Yu Weiwei blinked.

"Love at first hit?" he asked in surprise.

Elara nodded without hesitation.

"Love at first hit."

She laughed softly.

"He began pursuing Lin Zhe with unbelievable enthusiasm."

"Flowers."

"Gifts."

"Expensive jewellery."

"He tried everything."

"And every single time..."

"Lin Zhe beat him up."

Yu Weiwei: "..."

"Your father Lin was incredibly strong."

"Even after losing his spiritual cultivation, his combat instincts remained."

"Yu Chen lost count of how many beatings he received."

"But he never gave up."

A nostalgic smile appeared on Elara's face.

"Word eventually spread throughout the capital that the famous Yu Chen was being beaten senseless by an unknown underage young man."

"Naturally..."

"Caspian came to watch."

Yu Weiwei looked up with interest.

"And then?"

Elara covered her mouth, trying to suppress another laugh.

"He hadn't been watching for long before he noticed me."

"I had just returned from military training."

"My appearance was... rather deceptive."

"I had pink hair and delicate features."

"I looked harmless."

"Cute."

"So everyone underestimated me."

"Caspian was no exception."

"He tried to impress me."

Yu Weiwei suddenly had a bad feeling.

"...Did you beat him up too?"

Elara smiled brightly.

"I did."

Yu Weiwei: "..."

"Well, it really wasn't my fault."

"He always wore that cold expression, then said the most romantic things with a completely straight face."

"So I labelled him a pervert."

"Just like Yu Chen..."

"He kept coming back."

"No matter how many times I knocked him down."

"In the end..."

"The two brothers chased the two of us everywhere."

"And somehow..."

"That's how our love stories began."

Yu Weiwei couldn't help imagining the scene.

For some reason...

It suited them perfectly.

Elara's smile gradually softened.

"To be honest..."

"You inherited Lin Zhe's personality."

"The only difference was that back then, Lin Zhe would hit anyone he thought was a bad person."

"He wasn't good at judging people."

"That was one of the reasons he ended up coming to this world."

A trace of sadness flashed across her eyes.

"But..."

"He had me."

"And you didn't."

"I'm sorry."

Yu Weiwei shook his head.

"Auntie, you really need to stop apologising."

"Uncle Caspian was right."

Seeing that Elara was about to blame herself again, he quickly changed the subject.

"What do you mean Father Lin came to this world because he couldn't judge people?"

Elara was silent for a while before letting out a soft sigh.

"To be honest, I don't know everything either. Your father rarely spoke about his past."

She paused, her expression growing distant as memories resurfaced.

"The only thing he ever told me was that he had been betrayed by the people he trusted the most. He possessed a treasure, but what that treasure was, I don't know. Who betrayed him exactly, I don't know either. He never spoke about them again."

Yu Weiwei listened quietly, not interrupting.

"I only know that those people were his relatives. They coveted what he possessed, and in the end... they became the reason he came to this world."

A bitter smile tugged at Elara's lips.

"For a long time, I thought your father had simply been unlucky. But after spending so many years with him, I realised that wasn't the case."

"He believed in people too easily. Not because he was foolish, but because he always chose to see the good in others. If someone treated him with kindness, he would return it wholeheartedly. If someone called themselves family, he never imagined they would one day raise a blade against him."

Her voice softened.

"After arriving in this world, he became much more cautious. He never lost his kind heart, but he stopped placing his trust in others so easily."

"His cautious behaviour only decreased when he awaken his Omniscient insight authority."

"With his authority, he could see people's true emotions, their lies and deception, their weaknesses and strength."

Yu Weiwei lowered his eyes, silently digesting everything he had heard.

He had never met Lin Zhe.

Nor had he ever met Yu Chen.

Everything he knew about his fathers came from the stories of those who had loved them.

Even so, every story made them feel a little more real in his heart.

"They must have been incredible people," he murmured.

"They were," Elara replied with a warm smile. "And if they were still here... they would've loved you more than anything."

The room fell into a awkward silence.

Just then, the ward door slid open.

A doctor entered with several nurses carrying medical scanners.

"Good morning, Young Master Yu. It's time for your final examination."

Yu Weiwei nodded and obediently extended his hand.

The doctor performed a thorough examination before reviewing the holographic report. A smile gradually spread across his face.

"Congratulations. Your mental core has completely stabilised, and your body has recovered exceptionally well. You can be discharged today."

Yu Weiwei blinked in surprise.

"So soon?"

The doctor chuckled.

"His Majesty insisted that we discharge you earlier. Otherwise, you would've spent a few more days."

As if on cue, the ward door opened once again.

Caspian walked in, dressed in his imperial uniform. Behind him were two attendants carrying several storage boxes containing Yu Weiwei's belongings.

"The discharge procedures have been completed," he said calmly. "The shuttle is waiting."

Elara laughed softly.

"I had a feeling you'd come personally."

Caspian's expression remained as indifferent as ever.

"I was merely passing by."

Yu Weiwei couldn't help but smile seeing Caspian whose entire focus has been on his Empress the entire time.

His parents relationship were probably like that... Right?

The Imperial shuttle rose steadily into the sky, leaving the Central Military Hospital behind.

Yu Weiwei sat by the window, quietly watching the capital shrink beneath the clouds.

Everything had happened so quickly.

Just a few days ago, he had been lying unconscious in a hospital bed.

Now he has an entire planet waiting for him.

A faint smile unconsciously curved his lips.

Across from him, Elara watched with gentle eyes, while Caspian calmly read through the reports displayed on the holographic screen before him.

A soft chime suddenly echoed through the cabin.

An Imperial aide's face appeared on the screen.

"Your Majesty."

"The Supreme Court has completed its investigation."

"The verdict has been released."

Caspian's expression remained unchanged.

"Proceed."

The aide nodded before opening the official document.

"Former Major General Yu Xi has been stripped of all military ranks and honours. His assets have been confiscated, and he has been sentenced to life imprisonment."

"Yu Xi's wife Tara has been found guilty of conspiracy, abuse of authority, attempted murder, and falsifying evidence. She has also been sentenced to life imprisonment."

"Young Master Yu Yuan has been put in bounty, dead or alive."

"The remaining members of the Yu family have received sentences ranging from five to thirty years, depending on the severity of their crimes."

"The verdict has now been made public throughout the Empire."

The cabin fell silent.

Yu Weiwei merely listened without speaking.

There wasn't the slightest ripple in his eyes.

His heart had already grown numb towards the Yu family.

From the moment they abandoned him...

They had ceased to be his family.

The aide hesitated before continuing.

"Your Majesty, there is another matter concerning the Si family."

Caspian raised his eyes from the report.

"The Si family has been repeatedly requesting an audience with Young Master Yu Weiwei."

Elara's expression immediately turned cold.

"The Si family?"

The aide nodded.

"They claimed it was regarding the engagement between the two families."

A faint trace of displeasure appeared in Elara's eyes.

"An engagement?"

"Interesting."

"The Emperor has already handled the exchange of gifts according to Imperial customs. The engagement is now officially broken. What exactly does the Si family want to discuss with Weiwei?"

The aide remained silent for a moment before answering.

"They have not stated their true intentions."

"However, based on their messages, they appear to be trying to persuade Young Master Yu Weiwei to meet with Si Tian."

Elara's expression became colder.

"So they are still trying to use the engagement as an excuse."
