Back on the Island
As the Highland team finished their meal and settled into a comfortable silence, the "Villainess" of the island was experiencing a very different reality.
Wang Bai sat in the dark of the Lowland camp, her stomach cramping with a dull, persistent hunger. The small portion of food Chen Jue had brought her earlier had been a momentary relief, but it had only served to awaken her appetite, making her more aware of the void in her belly.
Zhang Rui was lying on his back nearby, staring at the stars with a hollow, angry expression, his pride wounded even more than his stomach.
"She's doing it on purpose," Zhang Rui hissed into the night, his voice raspy. "The scallion pancakes... I can smell the toasted oil from here. She's flaunting it. She wants us to know exactly what we're missing."
