' why does this feel like dungeon crawling,' I think as I walk into the room and the shadows flow around the light circle. As soon as the grate i came through is out of the light in hear thumps and find the grate blocked by destroyed shelves. I sigh and look around the room before the lights above me flicker on and I barely dodge a huge ax head.
Turning off the lantern, due to the room now having light I place it in the gate. Placing the lantern in the gate so it doesn't get broken, I summon the shotgun and fire two shots into the molded that is wielding an ax. The first shot hits it in the shoulder staggering it as the second hits its hip. I go towards the molded and pull out the seraph blade before digging it into the molded's neck. It screeches out as the mold receded from the area, obviously afraid of the blade, revealing human skin. The blade burns the skin before slicing on through and the molded disentigrates.
Soon the shadows surge back to me but I pull out the lantern and turn it back on. Casting my self in a circle of light the shadows halt thier advance and I hear audible growling coming from them. I look at the lantern gauge and see the dial dipping into the yellow on the solid fuel that's in there.
Note: solid fuel burns for 20 minutes while burner fuel burns for 10 minutes
I start walking through the room walking along a wall until I meet a locker with a mesh door. Opening it up it find a box labeled flares and I pick it up. I look into the box and find it's empty with a message," made you look". I toss the box into the shadows and continue looking around the room, finding the door i open it and walk into a hallway.
I walk slowly through the hall and the hallway opens up into a room with the lights working. Shutting off the lantern in start looking around the room and i find a row of nesh lockers, some tables covered in mold and rotting meals. Walking towards the mesh lockers and opening them i find two chem fluids and a tin of solid fuel. As I grab the items I here bulbs blowing out and the room starts going dark i try to start the lantern but it starts clicking and doesn't start. I grab my uv flashlight and click it on as I grab the shadow hunter's stele and rapidly draw a sign for illumination or light. The rune lights up in a single flash of light and as it does the shadows screech and gather to a single point in the center of the room. There on top of a table crouches a small creature resembling a classic imp, dark skinned with thin body and long spindly limbs with a classic arrow head tipped tail. It screeches as liquid shadows come from its maw and I grab the shotgun from my back and fire into the demon sending it across the room. The demon screeches and twitches before hopping back up and I fire missing as it jumps up and goes into the ventilation system above us. I rack a shell and curse as the rune starts dimming. Putting away the shotgun i quickly get the lamp back up and running as soon as the shadows swarm the room.
" well damn, I forgot mortal weapons won't work on demons. Hmmm. Maybe take metals used by shadow hunters and integrate them. I mean my runes work but with regular shadow hunter's the runes disables gunpowder," I say as I hear a hiss from somewhere and I hear a clink of metal and leather hitting the ground. Looking around I find a harness that has a set of hooks and a shoulder sheath and armpit holster attached. I set the lantern down and start putting on the item and I feel it out, making sure the straps are tight and well fitted, before putting the lantern on one of the hooks. As I secure the lantern in also secure the seraph blade in the shoulder sheath while putting the lemi into the holster. Just as I do a door opens up and I hear huge footsteps hitting the floor. I pull out the lemi and turn on the flashlight. Just in time as a huge blade comes out of the darkness causing me to duck as it hits the wall and scrapes along it. They flashlight beam hits a solid mass and i open fire with three shots and I dodge again as the bullets ping off the mass , easily identified as metal armor, and the blade once again. I fire two more shots hitting something other than metal as it let's out a gutteral growl. I rush behind the mass dodging the blade and finding the door it came through.
I leave the room and enter another that's easily mistaken for a hallway but it's a maze of shelves and mesh fences. " oh you have got to be kidding me," I groan as I see a stack of files on a table along with three herbs. Grabbing the items and just shoving the files into my bag I start trying to find my way out of this room. Heading left at a intersection i find myself attacked by two regular molded and I just shotgun both of their head. "Totally not dealing with this shit," I mumble before finding a bloated corpse on a table and a key like object sticking out of it. Grabbing the object i find it's the scorpion key and put it into my bag.
I hear the scraping of the creature's blade behind me so I start looking for a way out. Opening up a mesh cabinet i find a hole behind it and I start going through it. Just in time as the blade pierces the cabinet door and almost hits me. Shuffling through the hole in finally get out and find myself back in the first hallway meaning I went into a giant circle. I start heading back up the stairs to store my loaded bag when something jumps from the top of the stairs at me. Grabbing the creature i find it to look a lot like a face hugger. Fending off the assailant I hear a grunt and the creature goes flying as a fist collides with it. The thing screeches and I grab the shotgun and toss it to the person that helped me. He grabs it and fires a single slug through the leaping creature shredding it apart before pointing the gun at me. I stop before I hear a grizzled voice say, " don't know who you are but you look like hammered shit."
The person extends his hand helping me up before we both head upstairs to the safe room. Sitting down the guy hands me back the shotgun and says," okay sun, tell me who you are and why you're on my brother's place."
" kyros irons, and long story short, broke down, waited for tow, got hit in the head by this guy, introduced the family and now trying to escape this house of horrors. And you," I ask as he sighs and replies.
" Joe baker my brother is jack baker. I was just coming by to check on them and stumbled upon this shit show," replies Joe baker as he sighs and sits on a chair," now sun, tell me the long version."
