Healer Felix drew himself to his full height, glaring down at Caius with undisguised dislike in his eyes.
"I am here in my capacity as a healer of Ashbourne," he said, his tone icily polite. "Training sessions tend to result in many injuries, especially since the entire warrior force in Ashbourne is currently assembled here for training."
Caius gritted his teeth. "I find it hard to believe you suddenly care so much about your duties, since you spent the whole of yesterday holed up in your home instead of at the infirmary. Yvette needed your help."
"She's very tenacious, and I believe she'll live well. She has you, after all," Healer Felix retorted without missing a blink. On the surface, Healer Felix's words were nothing but praise, but I heard the mockery lurking underneath.
Caius's face darkened, and his mouth opened again, ready to continue arguing. I had had enough.
