[IRIS POV]
As though a spell had been broken, I whipped my head around to see werewolves I did not recognize at the lakeside. They took off their clothes and jumped into the lake, making their way straight for us.
I hurriedly wrapped my arms around my chest, covering myself up. While most werewolves took nudity lightly, I felt very underdressed in my current state, especially when meeting strangers.
"Who are they?" I whispered anxiously to Caius. "Are they rogues?"
"I wish. They are werewolves from Stonebreak," Caius replied, gnashing his teeth.
He unleashed his aura― while it wasn't as strong as a full-grown alpha's would be, it was still a potent warning sign against the intruders. He stood protectively in front of me as they came closer, and I hated how my heart raced at his gesture. Caius was probably doing it subconsciously, as a future pack leader to a pack member, and not because I actually meant anything to him.
As he said earlier, he wanted me alive to suffer.
