Chapter 3 - Meet the enemies

Elena gasped out loud, her eyes flickered open. She jolted up and stared around, confused and startled. Everything was strange, she was lying on a rather comfortable bedding and the large room looked beautiful but unfamiliar.

'What is going on?" she thought as she slowly set her foot on the floor, her long hair did not fall behind her back.

She frowned quickly and grabbed it to see, but her once beautiful long black hair has been changed to cherry blonde.

Her eyes dashed to her hands and it looked rather feeble, those hands were supposedly to have held blades and cut thousands of men.

Much to her shock, she was dressed in a different, strange clothes. Before she could contemplate what was going on, the door opened.

Elena raised her head up, a woman in her early forties walked in with an older man behind her. They gazed surprised to see her standing, looking well.

Elizabeth, her aunt, rushed to her after a pause, her face swiftly contorted in relief. She pulled Elena in to her arms.

"Oh, Elena. Thank goodness you're alive" she cried against her shoulder.

Elena was perplexed for a moment and pushed her away with utter confusion written all over her face. Her face frowned.

"Who are you?" she questioned.

Elizabeth chuckled. "What's wrong Elena? Of course it's your Aunt Betty" she answered, turning to her husband who was now standing beside her.

Gabriel also stared at Elena who eyed him differently with no recognition of whom he was as well.

"Elena? Are you alright? The accident was quite fatal" he said, moving closer but she drew back

'Is the god of hell trying to mess with her?' Elena thought as she glanced quickly around again.

She turned to the two still standing, staring at her and wondered why they are calling her by a different name.

Just before she could open her mouth to ask, the door open again and two other people walked in, side by side.

Elena's gaze lifted up slowly at them, and her body stiffened in that instant. A dangerous rush hit her heart and her face turned completely pale.

'It's Arthur! And her stepsister, Charlotte!' her head went into flame of rage.

She clenched her hands and without wasting a second more, she charged at them. And before Declan could see what was coming, a hard punch landed on his face, staggering him backward.

Elena turned to Clara whose eyes widened, stunned at her unbelievable action. Her eyes were smoldering, sending shivers down her whole body as it penetrate through her heart.

Clara whimpered for a second, frozen until Elena's palm hit across her cheek and she grasped it instantly with a loud scream, but it soon died as soon as she let it out and she fired a glare at Elena instead.

Elizabeth and Gabriel rushed to her side immediately, their faces looked horrified as they were shocked by Elena's attitude.

"Have you lost your mind?" Elizabeth's eyes widened in anger as she yelled, hugging Clara into her arms.

Gabriel quickly signaled to her with a shake of his head to watch her tone and she swallowed her anger.

"The only ones who have lost their minds are these two." Elena resorted boldly, her back straightened and her eyes glared sharply.

Clara pushed Elizabeth off slightly, standing straight. "I know that you are angry about what happened, but it's not my fault you got into an accident and almost died" she resorted, gritting her teeth to suppress her anger.

"Accident?" Elena's clench tightened. 'I was stabbed in the heart and you called it an accident?'her anger boiled furiously.

"You framed me up! Caused the death of my family. My comrades..." Elena fired at her, moving closer and her eyes glaring murderously.

Both Clara and her parent moved back in fright, stunned at her words and boldness. "What the hell are you talking about?" Clara demanded, her face twisted in confusion.

Declan quickly stepped forward to stop Elena, her eyes dashed at him. Hatred replaced his anger immediately.

"Stop pretending and blaming us. You are the one who dared to think I would love someone like you" he fired angrily.

The words hit Elena in the heart but only fueled her anger. Yes, she was fool enough to think he was in love with her but not anymore.

Right now, all she want is to draw her sword and slash him into two, and pluck out his eyes for the birds to feed.

"Someone like me should have seen you both for what you are. Manipulative, weak and cowards" she spatted to their faces.

Clara's face squeezed up in rage, her arms shook as she clutched tightly. She gritted wanting to kill her all over again.

Who could have thought the attempt last night would fail. Not only did she not die but she wasn't hurt, only a scratch.

Elizabeth quickly moved in front of them, knowing her daughter might lose her temper now.

"Elena dear, I'm not sure what you mean but you love your cousin, Remember? she's your only friend" she let out, staring into her eyes, trying to calm her down as usual.

She furrowed and pulled out of her grip, finding it more infuriating. Her step-sister was nothing but a bastard that her father had with a slave.

She wouldn't even dare step where she had stepped, how absurd to call them friends? Elena thought.

"More like my servant. The only reason you are alive and living well is because of me" she resorted.

Those words crushed not only Clara but her parents too. It was like a truth buried that was brutally uprooted out.

Clara flared, hot air flamed out of her nostril, she charged at her but her father stopped her.

"Please take her out" he said to Declan who quickly grabbed her to himself and pull her away.

Elizabeth stared at Elena, shell-shocked at her bold remark. "That was harsh. I had taken care of you like my daughter, how could you call us beggars?" she cried pretentiously.

Gabriel moved closer to her and pat her on the back, she pretend to sober and then slowly exit the room, expecting Elena to call her back and apologize but until the door closed behind them, she didn't.

Something about her was different. She doesn't seem like the Elena they had usually manipulate and coax with deceitful smiles.

The false facial countenance disappeared quickly and Elizabeth's expression shifted to perplexity.

'What on earth happened to her?' she wondered.

After they all left, Eleba felt a sharp pain in her head and grasped it with a groan, it seemed like something was drawing her in. Her memory flipped to the water and she remembered the girl from the river who asked her for revenge.

She turned to the room to stare at her new identity. "You want revenge, I will get it for you" she murmured to herself.
