I didn't stop smiling.
Not once.
It stayed exactly where it was supposed to be, soft, composed, perfectly in place, as I walked past them toward the sink like nothing in the world could possibly be wrong.
Behind me, the silence wasn't just present.
It was heavy.
Suffocating.
The kind of silence that didn't sit in a room so much as press down on everyone inside it until even breathing felt like an accusation.
I could feel it, faint, sharp, deliciously uncomfortable.
Their panic, blooming like something alive.
Neither girl moved.
Neither girl spoke.
Honestly impressive, considering how confidently they had been talking just seconds ago. People really did love courage right up until consequences entered the room.
But I knew their fear isn't towards me... They just panicked because they spilled all the bean alright in front of me... And they probably ruined Bram and Kaelara plan.
The faucet in front of me lit up automatically the moment I placed my hands beneath it.
