I am a Purger.

The thought lingered in my mind like a quiet revelation, echoing through the excited conversations filling the bus as everyone chattered animatedly about Bram's upcoming birthday celebration. It felt strange, almost surreal, to consider what those three simple words might actually mean once we stepped beyond the academy walls.

For the first time in my life, being a Purger might carry real weight outside these cursed grounds. It might grant me a voice, a presence, even a sliver of respect that had always been denied to the powerless, wolfless girl I had been before. Even so, I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to go to the party.

Social gatherings had never been my territory. Parties usually meant noise, judgment, and people who only invited me when they needed something, wanted to mock me, or had simply forgotten I was standing nearby.

So naturally, I assumed Bram's invitation wasn't really directed at me.

Then I heard my name.
