Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: The Path of the Devourer

The tunnel was nothing but a vertical gullet of black rock, crawling with malevolent life. Nameless raised the rusted sword. It felt as if it weighed a ton, but the moment his gloved fingers gripped the hilt, a resonance occurred.

The First Stage: Awakening of the Blade

A pack of Shadow Crawlers lunged at him, their crystal claws ready to shred him. Nameless did not retreat. For the first time, he didn't shout an incantation. He visualized it.

"Ignition."

The fire didn't come from his mouth this time. It erupted from the rusted blade, coating the metal in a crackling orange aura. He struck. The sword sliced through the air with a hiss of steam, decapitating three monsters in a single circular motion.

As the creatures collapsed, a strange black mist escaped their corpses. Without Nameless noticing, the mist was absorbed through his pores. A violent heat flooded his chest. His once-fragile lungs expanded. His thin muscles surged with new power.

The Second Stage: Mastery of Mass

The higher he climbed, the more imposing the monsters became. Two Ogres blocked his path in a wider section of the tunnel. They raised their clubs, but Nameless lifted his left hand—the one bearing the heaviest seal.

"Gravity Field: 10x."

The ground beneath the ogres exploded instantly. The creatures were crushed against the walls, their bones shattered by the sudden weight of their own bodies. Nameless lunged, flaming sword in hand. He no longer ran like a frightened child; his stride was predatory, precise, and lethal. He pierced the heart of the first ogre and slit the throat of the second.

Once again, the monsters' souls were devoured. With every absorption, his appearance mutated. His blonde hair, dulled by dust, began to darken, turning jet-black at the roots. His face, once pale and sickly, became sculpted—his features growing harder, more authoritative. The frail boy was vanishing, replaced by a warrior whose aura made the very air tremble.

The Third Stage: The Carnage

Halfway to the surface, the tunnel became an arena. Dozens of Blood Gargoyles descended upon him. Nameless combined his two powers. He created a gravitational sphere to pull every enemy toward a central point, then, with a savage gesture, he unleashed a "Flame Burst."

The explosion was so powerful the entire tunnel vibrated up to the surface. Nameless absorbed everything: their mana, their essence, their life. His Academy uniform, once too large, now fit his new frame perfectly. His eyes showed no more fear, only a cold determination that would have chilled Alaric's blood.

The Gate of Light

He finally reached the ledge where he had fallen hours earlier. The massive stone door was sealed by earthquake debris. Nameless stood before the obstacle. He was no longer the same. His hair was now deep black, contrasting with his blue eyes that burned with a supernatural sapphire glow.

He didn't look for a lever. He simply raised his gloved fist. "Collapse."

A gravitational pulse struck the door. The rock shattered under the pressure, revealing the main hall of the dungeon where chaos still reigned.

The Revelation

Across the settling dust, Kaelen, Isolde, and the students were cornered. The A-Rank Boss raised its stone hand to crush them. But as all hope seemed lost, the dust cleared. A silhouette stood there, bathed in an aura of fire and gravity. A young man with black hair, an imposing build, holding a sword that seemed to have traveled through eons to return to his hands.

"Nameless...?" Leo whispered, unable to recognize his friend in this magnificent and terrifying warrior.

Nameless did not answer. His gaze fixed on the A-Rank Boss. A smile—almost identical to Elara's but far more savage—appeared on his lips. The real fight was about to begin.
