Just as she was about to say something, Chu Yao stood up straight and blinked at Lu Xize. "Uh... I'm going to take a shower. You... get some rest. Good night."
With that, Chu Yao quickly turned to leave, but she hadn't taken more than a few steps before Lu Xize grabbed her wrist. He spun her around in a single motion, pressing her back against the refrigerator as his tall, lean frame loomed over her.
Chu Yao wasn't short for a woman, but facing Lu Xize, she seemed petite in comparison.
Lu Xize looked down at her, her eyes darting about as her mind was clearly racing. He sighed in resignation and lowered his head. "It was Lu Ziqian."
"Lu... Ziqian?"
"My cousin."
Lu Xize's explanation was brief, and Chu Yao understood. 'Oh, so it wasn't a boyfriend after all.'
'How boring.'
Chu Yao pouted. The subtle movement didn't escape Lu Xize's notice, causing his brow to furrow. 'What's going through that little head of hers? Why does she look so disappointed?'
"You're disappointed?"
