Legend has it that those who drown become Water Ghosts, and only after finding a replacement can they reincarnate.
Before she knew it, Jane had followed the girls down a winding path. The snow crunched underfoot as they eventually arrived at a wide, open clearing.
In the distance, just past the clearing, lay a river shimmering with light. Jane Sterling was momentarily stunned.
'I've never seen water so clear and radiant,' she thought. 'You would certainly never see this in the city.'
It was hardly bigger than a creek, really. The distance from one bank to the other was probably only about three meters.
'But a river like this can actually drown people?'
Jane couldn't help but take a picture. The river's surface shimmered with iridescent colors under the sun, looking like a paradise on earth.
"See, Aunt? I wasn't lying, was I? It's so beautiful by the river!"
