The man seemed a bit stunned. He pursed his thin lips, as if deep in thought.
He shook his head, his expression cold.
"I can't leave yet. I still have things to do here."
As he spoke, the man seemed to be trying to read something on Jane Sterling's face.
"You..."
'Strange. This girl isn't even my type.'
'So why do I feel this inexplicable sense of familiarity and closeness to her?'
The man shook his head. He'd finally managed to find this place; he couldn't give up so soon.
"You should go. It's dangerous here."
With that, he pried Jane Sterling's hands from the doorframe and pushed her out.
Jane Sterling was shoved out and stumbled back several feet. The man slammed the door with a loud BANG and then walked away from it.
She didn't have time to dwell on it. If he wasn't willing to come with her, there was nothing she could do.
With that thought, Jane Sterling quickly adjusted her clothes to make it easier to move and scanned her surroundings.
