"So this is our sister-in-law!"
The young man didn't look very old, maybe high school-aged. He was a sweet-talker, and his one sentence made Drew Thorne beam.
Drew Thorne pulled a stack of red envelopes from his bag, picked out the thickest one, and handed it to the young man before him.
"You really know how to talk, cousin."
His low voice sounded by the man's ear as he shoved a big red envelope into his arms. Feeling its thickness, the young man was absolutely ecstatic—so happy he looked like he wanted to grab Drew Thorne and plant a kiss on him.
"Hi, sister-in-law!"
"Hi, Auntie!"
"Hi, Auntie!"
"Hi, big sis!"
Seeing this, the other younger members of the family swarmed forward, sweetly calling out to Jane Sterling according to their respective family ranks.
Jane Sterling was completely disoriented, standing off to the side, as stiff as a board.
Drew Thorne, meanwhile, was blissfully handing out red envelopes of all sizes. He cleared his throat gently.
